Defining Geographic Constructs for Effective Management in the GCPOLCC

This document outlines the need for defining geographic constructs within the Gulf Coast Prairie Landscape Conservation Cooperative (GCPOLCC) to facilitate effective conservation management across vast landscapes. The goal is to break down the 180-million-acre geography into manageable units that can be effectively used for both terrestrial and aquatic systems. Recommendations from the GCPOLCC Geomatics Working Group suggest using Bird Conservation Regions (BCRs) for terrestrial systems and Hydrologic Unit Codes (HUC2) for aquatic systems. A collaborative approach with other LCCs is essential to achieve this.
