Post 1989 Higher Education: Transition, Reform or Building of the Common? • Premises: • 1989 a turning point for all higher education systems in the CEE region • Which direction? / What result? • Thesis: 1989 – 2009 not an homogenous period, can be subdivided in pre- and during Bologna • Conclusion: no definite solution yet. 6th DRC Summer School on Regional Cooperation, Budapest, 5 - 12 July 2009

The Role of the European Office in Vienna in Cross-border Activities • Successful cooperation needs and intensive exchange of knowledge and experience between national and international experts in the field of education, decision-makers and workers in the field of pedagogy. • Everyone who is working in this field needs to have a lot of specific skills and knowledge (special competences) and willingness to overcome linguistic, cultural and political barriers. • Education has to prepare young people to become active members in the society. TavesBaxtalo!- Health Policies and the Romanian Gypsy Community • The aim of the research project is to evaluate the impact of the specific international and national health policies for the Roma community in Romania • Both quantitative (surveys) and qualitative (interviews, focus groups) methods will be used to assess the strength of these policies • The findings are to be considered for further policy implementation 6th DRC Summer School on Regional Cooperation, Budapest, 5 - 12 July 2009

Motivation for Migration Return and the Sustainability of Return in the Case of Bulgaria • Emigration should not be considered as the last stage of mobility • Snowball online questionairy was used because of the lack of data on this topic • The primary motivation for emigration was education followed by economic reasons • The reason for coming back to Bulgaria was mostly the family and the network there, with which a strong connection was maintained during their stay abroad. 6th DRC Summer School on Regional Cooperation, Budapest, 5 - 12 July 2009

Fears of Economic Change in Today’s Ukraine • Analysis of recent economic data used to show the way in which the Global Crisis influences all spheres of Ukraine’s economy • Advantages and disadvantages of the position of Ukraine today from the point of view of its foreign relations • Useful links and directions to follow were welcomed in order to further continue the research in this field 6th DRC Summer School on Regional Cooperation, Budapest, 5 - 12 July 2009
