  6. Freight Rail The plans for domestic and International freight being designed during 2012 The transfer of freight to the New Doha Port in 2015 alone will relocate 0.75-1.0 M TEU pa of Container Freight on to the roads between Mesaieed and Greater Doha

  7. Lusail Light Rail Phase 1 of the LLRT is under construction with target of August 2016 for start of operations This will be Qatar’s 1st operational railway System (Design, Build & Maintain) Tenders are now being evaluated Shadow / Early Operator required during 2012/13

  8. West Bay Transit West Bay road system is crowded and theCross Doha Bay Crossing and Lusail Expressway will add to the burden. Consultants appointed to consider thefeasibility of an alternative transit solution. This needs to be part of a comprehensive Land Use/Integrated transport strategy.

Corporate development • Qatar Rail is now an established company with delegated powers to contract • Organizational chart is finalized • Business plan and budget are set • Finance, HR policies and procedures agreed and being implemented. • Team increased from 12 people 1 year ago to 150 employees and 150 consultants • Qatar Rail moved to its 18th floor headquarters
