  3. The Problem 1 16.7 million Americans were victim of identity fraud in 2017 and 60 million Americans have been affected by identity theft in 2017.

  4. Causes of the problem Identity theft and fraud are primarily caused by the following circumstances: Theft of your sensitive information. With this information (like passwords, credit card numbers, etc.), a criminal can execute transactions. The possibility that 2 identical identities exist in a system. A criminal copies and imitates your identity and pretends to be you.

  5. Current Situation Currently, at places where access is provided, your data need to be matched locally. This involves handing over something from yourself (your biometric characteristic, key, ID card, passport, etc.). And this needs to be compared and matched with your data that is locally stored.
