  2. Chapter 10 • One growing society and one falling society • Ralph and Piggy have lost most of there society to Jack. Jack’s society continues to grow stronger “Piggy? Are you the only one left?”-Ralph pg155 “I know. They didn’t come for the conch. They came for something else. Ralph- what am I going to do?”-Piggy pg168 “We’ll live on our own, the four of us.” –Ralph pg158 “He came-disguised. He may come again even though we gave him the head of our kill to eat. So watch, and be careful” –Jack pg160 “He was chief no in truth; and he made stabbing motions with his spear. From his left hand dangled Piggy's broken glasses.” –Jack pg168

Chapter 11 • Fighting society and murder • Ralph and Piggy confront Jack about taking Piggy’s glasses and it ends in a fight between Jack and Ralph. “They’ve got our fire […] they stole it!” –Ralph pg169 “I just take the conch to say this. I cant see no more and I got to get my glasses back, Awful things has been done on this island. I voted for you for chief. He’s the only one who ever got anything done. So now you speak, Ralph, and tell us what. Or else-” –Piggy pg170 “You’ll get hurt” –Ralph pg171 “Jack wrenched free and swung at Ralph with his spear.” –Jack pg177

  5. Chapter 12 • Race for survival and rescue • Ralph is hiding from Jack and his army in the thickets of the jungle. Jack and Roger have made the decision that Ralph needs to be killed. Finally the boys have been rescued from the island. “The breaking of the conch and the deaths of Piggy and Simon lay over the island like a vapor” –Ralph pg184 “You got to go, Ralph. You go away now-” –Samneric pg187 “What have I done? I liked him- and I wanted us to be rescued-” –Ralph pg188 “We saw your smoke. What have you been doing? Having a war or something”-officer pg201 “And in the middle of them, with filthy body, matted hair, and unwiped nose, Ralph wept for the end of innocence, the darkness of man’s heart, and the fall through the air of the true, wise friend called Piggy.”-Ralph pg202
