  4. Group A – 6 to 8 years My Green City A city where the sun smiles everyday, where we are free to breath fresh air, where fishes can swim in clean water, means of transportation do not harm the environment. Think Green, Think of your Green City.

  5. Group B – 9 to 11 years • Switch Off How does saving electricity help the environment? Most electricity is produced by burning fossil fuels like coal, oil and natural gas. This produces carbon dioxide and other emissions that add to the greenhouse gas already in the atmosphere, contributing to global warming. And what is being done about it? A small amount of electricity is generated from hydro schemes (rivers, dams, ocean waves and tides), a smaller amount from wind power, solar power and geothermal power plants. All these produce practically no carbon dioxide or other harmful emissions and so are good for the environment.

  6. What can you do? • You can implement some energy-saving measures immediately, such as turning off and unplugging unused lights and appliances. Shut off and unplug electronic devices, such as cell phone chargers, computers, televisions, video and DVD players and gaming consoles, when you are not using them. Plugged in, these devices use stand-by power, which can amount to 5 to 10 percent of your home's energy consumption. • Replace incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescent bulbs, which provide the same amount of light while using less energy. • Teach kids how to save hot water and electricity by taking shorter showers and turning off the water while brushing their teeth, and have them remind everyone in the household to do the same. • Get kids to help you plant a few trees in your yard. As the trees grow, they'll provide shade for the house, which will keep it cool and reduce your need to use air conditioning in the summer, and they'll create a barrier against cold winds during the winter.
