  2. setting This story takes place in the dim wood region (the map on slide 1) in the morning, at night, in the afternoon and the evening.

  3. climax The climax of this story is the battle between Poppy and Mr. Ocax. The outcome of the battle was Mr. Okax’s death due to an impact with the salt lick. I will tell you why he flew into the salt lick. Poppy found one of Ereth’s quills in the grass and she used it as a sword. When Mr. Okax tried to swoop down and grab Poppy she held out the quill and it stuck into Mr. Okax’s foot. With the quill in his foot Mr. Okax flew around wildly and accidentally flew in to the salt lick and died.

  4. onomatopoeia One example of onomatopoeia in this story is when Poppy looked out of Ereth’s log she heard the soft fuzz buzz of flies in the air (found on page 108).

  5. Point of view We think the point of view is from the author because it said stuff like “ Said Poppy. Poppy ran up to Mr.Ocax and stabbed him in the foot.” So that is why we think it is from the author’s point of view.

  6. Conflicts The conflict is man vs. man because Mr. Ocax tried to eat poppy and poppy fought for herself she was scared and just stabbed him in the foot and looks like she was the one who killed someone.

  7. Foreshadow An example of foreshowing is when the quill from Erith stabbed Mr.Ocax in the foot made us think that Mr.Ocax would die, and he did. Page 146 and 147.

  8. simile The silence was as deep as the tree’s were tall. Page 80.

  9. Characters The characters in the book Poppy are: Poppy, Mr.Ocax, Basil, Sweet cicely, Lungwort, Ray, Ragweed, George, Erith, the fake owl, the red fox, Poppy’s 11 children.
