The KOREN optical network will be upgraded to include 10G/2.4G capabilities across all six nodes using advanced technologies such as P2P DWDM, OADM, and OXC. By the end of the year, all members will have access to at least 45Mbps, while the new JP-KR APII/Gigabit Network has been officially established between Japan and South Korea. The Korean government proposes forming a collaborative Asia-wide Research and Education network with other countries. This initiative was discussed during the APAN 2003 meeting in Jeju, further fostering regional collaboration.
