  1. System Requirements • ESH2 or AT-FCX storage shelves • AT-FCX not in eConfigurator until Sept. Use add-parts to order additional cabling until then. • AT-FCX shelves must be RoHS compliant • If not, the shelves must be replaced. • Shelves currently shipping are RoHS compliant. • Software disk ownership supported on the Filer. • 9XX • 3XXX • 6XXX • OnTap 7.1.1 or 7.2.1 (or later) • 7.1.0 or 7.2.0 are not supported! • Uses twice the storage HBA’s. If you don’t have free HBA’s you’ll need to add some. • SyncMirror and stretched MetroCluster are supported. • Fabric MetroCluster already has multipathing.

New Configuration • Cable filer, shelves, etc. • Boot system • Manufacturing ships systems with root aggr, whose disks are assigned to the node. • If disks are not assigned • On the 1st Filer, go to Maint mode • Use ‘disk assign’ to assign disks. • reboot • ‘Init disks’ and create the root aggr. • On the 2nd filer, go directly to the Boot Menu and ‘Init disks’. Disks will be assigned automatically. • Use ‘storage show disk –p’ to validate wiring is correct.

Connect Cluster Inter-connect cables 2. Connect inter-shelf disk cables 3. Connect primary path from the storage system to the first shelves 4. Connect standby path from the storage system to the first shelves 5. Connect the redundant primary path from the storage systems 6. Connect the redundant standby path from the storage systems

  6. Upgrading a system in the field • If using AT-FCX shelves, verify that they are RoHS compliant. If not, they need to be replaced. • Determine if there are free storage HBA’s via sysconfig. If not, add them. • Takeover/Giveback can be used to minimize client impact. • Determine if software disk ownership is enabled via ‘disk show’. If the command doesn’t work: • Halt both nodes and boot into Maint. Mode • ‘disk upgrade_ownership’ on both nodes (prior to adding cables!!)

  7. Upgrading system (cont.) • Install optical connection’s in final shelf of each loop. • Do cabling.
