  1. What are the best season to trek in Nepal?

  2. Trekking in Nepal is possible to conduct throughout the year; however there are four main season to trek Nepal to witness it at its best. Each is peculiar in itself and has distinct attraction to offer. The major trekking season in Nepal are classified as follows: • Autumn (Sept – Nov): • Autumn season is considered as the time of the year to trek Nepal for its excellent weather and spectacular views. Mild temperature and crystal blue sky with excellent views make it a great time to do any sort of treks in Nepal. Occasional show shower may disturb the trek in high altitude, but it happen when your luck is bad.

  3. Winter (Dec – Feb): • Winter is considered for occasional snowfall at higher altitude in Himalayas. It is very chilly in night but the day often brings blue sky and there are very few trekkers on the trail. It is very important to be selective in choosing the winter trekking destination as climbing and crossing high passes trip won’t be an ideal option. Everest Base Camp Trek, Poon Hill Short Trek, Annapurna Base Camp Trek, Annapurna poon hill sunrise trek, Everest view trek can be done easily in winter. But don’t go higher than 4,200m elevation.

  4. Spring (March – May): • Spring season is known as blooming season with abundant of rhododendron and other wild flowers in hillside. It is second best season to trek in Nepal. The weather remains mild at lower elevation and at higher elevation the view are wonderful and temperature is quite moderate.

  5. Summer (June – August) • Summer time starting from June – mid September receives heavy downpours. These months are perfect for keen botanist as the valleys and meadows are in blossom with flowers and lush vegetation. Trekking in rain-shadow area (places which are out of reach of the rain clouds because of the high mountains) like Upper Mustang and Dolpo could be the perfect trekking destination for these months. • Trekkers can enjoy the treks like ManasluTsum Valley Trek, Gokyo Lake Trek, Annapurna circuit trek or Everest three pass trek in autumn and spring. Likewise, go for rain shadow area in summer as it won’t rain much as it is rain protected area. Winter is best for low altitude trekking in Nepal.

  6. If you are independent trekkers and planning to visit Nepal in high season, do not forget to book the flight and accommodation beforehand commencing your journey. Also don’t forget to check the availability of teahouse in winter at higher altitude ( Annapurna region, Everest region, Kanchenjunga region, Manaslu region and Dolpo region) as the teahouse remain closed due to heavy snowfalls and people often migrates to lower elevation to escape away from chilly weather.
