General Focus is on units Compliance oriented Assumes standards are correct as written Special Focus is on systems (systemic issues) Does not assume standards are correct as written Provides more widespread impact within the Directing Authority’s (DA) organization Follow-up Assesses the implementation of recommended solutions Types of Inspections

Walk in, Written, Fax, Email, Call In, Regular Mail It can be anonymous, in person, or 3rd person Requests are for assistance, allegations, issues, investigations, and training (if available: fill out a DA 1559 and bring supporting documentation) Inspector General FunctionsHow to make an IG Action Request:

  19. Receive, inquire into, and respond tocomplaints, requests for information, and request for help that is either presented to or referred to an IG. Examples: Pay issues, TDY settlements, Non-Support, Orders processing, promotions, Whistle-blower, LOD, improper MHE, Medical issues, incapacity pay, bonuses, re-up, retirement, leaves & passes, cmd issues, etc… What We Can Do:

  20. As of the 4th Quarter FY 2007, a total of 126 cases have been completed What we have done: 4th Quarter FY 2007

  27. Be sure you have a problem; and not a peeve. Give your chain of command a chance to solve the problem If IG assistance is needed, contact your local IG first. Before you tell it to theInspector General:

  28. Keep in mind that IG are not policy makers. Keep in mind that IG can only recommend, not order resolution Remember IG can only resolve a case on the basis of fact Before you tell it to theInspector General:
