  5. 1. What makes a good CYPP? • Concise, accessible, coherent • Focus on early intervention • Robust analysis of strengths and weaknesses • Thorough needs assessment • Self evaluation: what has worked and why • Strong links between needs, priorities, actions and resources

  6. 2. What makes a good CYPP? • Clear reasons for priorities • Targeted actions, according to target group importance and timing • Clear timings • Acknowledgement that actions can develop. • Clear success criteria.

What makes a good CYPP? • Clear lead for actions. • Resources statement shows pooled budgets. • Clear links to other plans and the Children’s Services Improvement Cycle. • Clear accountability for delivery and performance management. • Clear contribution of children and young people and of partners to planning.

Schools White Paper • Commitments to require: • local authorities to consult schools in the preparation of the CYPP • schools to have regard to the CYPP, for example, when creating their own School Development Plan. • local authorities will also draw up a strategic plan for the pattern of schools in their area as part of the CYPP.
