PINGPONG Criteria

This document outlines the criteria for managing PINGPONG circumstances during handover (HO) in Samsung Electronics systems. It specifies that, post-HO initiation, if the CINR value of the target base station (BS) falls below the defined PINGPONG threshold compared to the CINR at the start of HO, the Mobile Switching System (MSS) should return to the serving BS. Additionally, it proposes changes to include the PINGPONG threshold parameter in the SBC-RSP at the TLV field and updates to enhance the clarity of handling ping pong situations.

  3. Timing diagram for HO After actual HO starts, if the CINR value of target BS remains below PINGPONG threshold in comparison with CINR measured at actual HO start, MSS consider that it should return to serving BS and it transmits PINGPONG_Report Message.

  4. Proposed Text changes • Add the parameter in SBC-RSP at TLV field. PINGPONG threshold - a level in dB, by which the target BS is lower than the one measured before for an HO to return to serving BS. This value shall be less than Hysterisis threshold. • Add the below text at the end of line 47, page 47. After actual HO start, if the CINR value of target BS remains below PINGPONG threshold in comparison with CINR measured at actual HO start, MSS recognizes that ping pong situation has occurred and it should return to serving BS.
