  3. BUFAIM - Flexible Automation and Intelligent Manufacturing Systems Laboratory • http://www.bufaim.boun.edu.tr • Aims to realize a flexible manufacturing environment where research on modern manufacturing planning and control techniques, flexible automation concepts and their integration issues can be conducted. • Model factory is configured to serve as an infra-structure for the research in BUFAIM. Has a flexible, open and modularconfiguration, allowingrepresen-tation of various industrial applications.Runs on in-house developed reusable, extendible software. • Main research : Planning and simulation of Flexible Manufacturing Systems / Different control architectures in real-time shop floor control/ Planning and control for responsive manufacturing/ Manufacturing flexibility / Management of automated guided vehicle systems/ Modelling and anticipation of shop floor capacity during production planning. Contact person: Ümit Bilge bilge@boun.edu.tr IE

  4. Manufacturing Management Systems (MMS)Laboratory http:// mms.ie.boun.edu.tr • Aims to provide infrastructure and know-how to undergraduate and graduate students of the Department in production, logistics and supply-chain management. • MMS has several of the latest state-of-the art Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software for teaching and research purposes. • Recent research include : • Integrated supply network design;capacityand price • competition in supply chains;capacity-centered planning. Contact person: Taner Bilgiç taner@boun.edu.tr IE

  5. Socio-Economic System Dynamics Research Laboratory http://www.ie.boun.edu.tr/labs/sesdyn/ • Aims to model, analyze and improve strategic socio-economic management problems, from a "Dynamic Systems" perspective. Socio-economic problems that are either specific to Turkey or of universal nature are modeled and analyzed using systems thinking and dynamic computer simulation. • Current research: Systemic complexity and learning;Simulation games; New methods for validation and analysis of complex dynamic models; Dynamic modeling of medical/health problems. • SESDYN group is in contact with theInternational System Dynamics Societyand other international ‘systems’ centers.Prof. Yaman Barlas is a past president of the International System Dynamics Society. SESDYN is an internationally recognized research and education center. Contact person: Yaman Barlas ybarlas@boun.edu.tr IE
