Potential increase in traffic from proposed rezoning of residential areas There are some 8 sites within the Northbridge Area which are currently under consideration for rezoning from residential 2A to medium density R3 zoning. The impact of this change in terms of traffic generation would be an increase in peak hour vehicle trips of some 106 vehicles/hr. This additional traffic would be carried mainly by Sailors Bay Rd and Eastern Valley Way which are well served by public transport. Localised improvements at key locations such as Eastern Valley Way/Tenilba Rd, Strathallen Ave/Baringa Rd, Sailors Bay Road/Namoi Road to redirect some traffic may be considered.

    7. Parking Strategy Council is currently reviewing parking management practices in the LGA focussing on: - improving the management of commuter parking in residential areas introducing a more equitable approach to the creation and management of resident parking zones Maximising turnover of parking in busy commercial zones Introducing restrictions which are more easily enforced to more effectively utilise parking officer resources and improve turnover of parking Ensuring parking needs of residents, shoppers, commercial vehicles, motorbikes, the disabled are catered for The strategy will focus initially on the Naremburn/St.Leonards area as parking problems are most evident here. Approaches adopted there will then be adapted to suit other areas of the LGA
