  2. Definition of Socialization • सामाजीकरण म्हणजे अशी प्रक्रिया आहे की, ज्यामुळे व्यक्ती सामाजिक नियमने आत्मसात करते. Socialization is the process by which the individual learns to confirm to the norms of the group. - Ogburn • Socialization is the learning that enables the learner to perform social roles. - Harry Johnson

Characteristics of Socialization • Socialization is a continuous process • Relativity of time and place is in the process of socialization • Adaptation of culture through socialization • Active membership of society through socialization • Learning and teaching through socialization • Socialization is a complex process • Personality development through socialization

  4. Components of Socialization • Physical action • Motivation • Instincts सहज प्रवृत्ती • Interdependence • Education ability • Language ability • Working power • Need of human contact

  6. Family • Social needs of individuals are fulfilled by family • चांगले संस्कार • Model behaviour • Good and bad • सद्गुण – दुर्गुण • सुसंगती – विसंगती • Status and roles • Parson says, • that ‘family is factory where human being are molded’

School • Education has high status in the process of socialization • Introduction of a formal education by a teacher • Child’s behaivour, आचार – विचार are molded • Discipline is learnt • Reading, writing are developed • Respectful behaviour developed • Personality development • Cooperation, love, राष्ट्रभक्ती, जिव्हाळा

Peer Group मित्रांचा गट • Peer group plays important role in the socialization of child • स्वयंपुर्त सहकार्य • तडजोड compromise • Sport education • Development of Hobbies • Knowledge about personal life • Broom & Seljaniksays, • Peer group in city life • Gets new knowledge • Learning of new values मूल्य ग्रहण

Neighborhoodशेजारगट • The child comes in contact with neighbor after the family • Therefore influence of neighbor is observed in child • It also used as medium to bring a control on child • It is considered one of the important group for child socialization in rural areas • Religion, status, caste, occupation, language etc.

  10. Mass Media • Developed media has impacted the life of a person • Radio, television, computer, mobile, internet, newspaper, magazine reaching a vast knowledge to the individuals • Motivation to imitation and roles • Reaching the changing life style to person

  11. Religious Institution • Developing a belief on God • Ethics, following roles, • Controls good and bad behaviour or wrong doings • Fear of God • Imparted knowledge about holy scriptures • Living a healthy life, caring life
