  4. John 16:12-15The Holy Spirit’s Ministry to the believer:Unity Among the Trinity John 16:13

  5. Rom 8:16, “The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God”

  6. Spiritual phenomena cannot be understood apart from the teaching ministry of the Holy Spirit.

  7. This is the purpose of the filling of the Holy Spirit during the Church Age.

  8. When the First Advent of the Spirit occurs, one of the first responsibilities He has is to start communicating and writing the Canon of Scripture.

  9. When Jesus spoke anything about the Church Age it was only spoken, there was nothing in writing.

  10. “The Spirit of Truth” is the 3rd Person of the Trinity, and refers to the functional title of the Holy Spirit.

  11. The Holy Spirit operates as a teacher of truth. This is fourfold.

  12. a. The Holy Spirit communicates information to the writers of scripture. They put it down in writing, and that is the Canon.

  13. b. The Holy Spirit takes the “student” = the Pastor-Teacher, and the filling of the Holy Spirit makes it possible for him to understand what is written.

  14. c. Then when the Pastor-Teacher communicates it to the congregation there must be the filling of the Holy Spirit on the part of the Pastor-Teacher so that he communicates it in a lucid manner.

  15. d. There must be the filling of the Holy Spirit on the part of the congregation so that they might be the proper recipients.

  16. “He will guide you”. This word originally meant guide, but it eventually came to mean to instruct, to get someone who is off the road on the road.

  17. The Spirit of Bible doctrine (ALETHEIA) will guide you in Bible doctrine (ALETHEIA).

  18. Christ is both the Way and the Truth (John 14:6) and the Holy Spirit is the Guide who shows the way to the Truth (John 16:14).

  19. Psa 25:5, “Lead me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; for You I wait all the day.”

  20. “He will not speak on His own.”In the formation of the Canon of Scripture the Holy Spirit communicates the Plan of God the Father and the mind of Christ.

  21. The 1st Person is the author of the Plan. The 2nd has doctrine in His mind. The 3rd will come to reveal the Plan of the Father and the thinking of the Son.

  22. He will not communicate from the ultimate source of Himself, He will communicate what the believer hears that comes from the ultimate source of the Father and the Son.

  23. John 16:13, “But on the occasion of His coming, the Spirit of Truth, He will guide you all in all the Truth, (Bible Doctrine). For He will not communicate from the ultimate source of Himself, but whatever He hears He will communicate and will announce to you all what is to come.”

  24. This means that the Holy Spirit is involved in all areas of transmission;…

  25. … from the inspiration of the scriptures, to its interpretation by the Pastor-Teacher, to the communication of Bible teaching in the assembly, to the reception on the part of the congregation.
