  2. SOCIAL TRENDS • Social Media (Twitter, Facebook, texting). • Trend to an increased commitment to sustainable environmental friendly practices. • There is an increased focus on creating communities that have a sense of place.

  3. SOCIAL TRENDS, continued • Time deprivation – longer hours, desire for more family and personal time. • Desire to volunteer in groups, with family and during non-business hours. • Increased focus on embracing culture diversity.

  4. SOCIAL TRENDS, continued • Use of technology is changing the way we live, some generational divisions. • Socially responsible business is a growing trend. • There is a declining enrollment in established civic clubs.

  5. SOCIAL TRENDS, continued • Many find it difficult to leave work during the day to attend civic club meetings. • There are growing ways to work-less structured, shared leadership and more informal technology-based communications; networks.

  7. ECONOMIC TRENDS • High unemployment. • Jobs shifting to knowledge-based economy. • Families working multiple jobs. • Increase in uninsured or under insured individuals/families. • Focus on triple bottom line: economic, environmental and social.

  8. ECONOMIC TRENDS, continued • Increased competition for funders, donors and event attendees. • Growing local, national and global demand for charity. • Increased role of government in providing basic services. • Uncertainty in economic models and times.

  9. ECONOMIC TRENDS, continued • Younger population having a difficult time finding employment. • Many budgets are stretched and people are challenged to meet financial obligations.

  10. DEMOGRAPHIC TRENDS • Aging population. • Population of children is declining. • The number of young retirees who may be willing to volunteer in the region. • There are a growing number of people taking care of their parents. • The number of single-parent families is increasing.

  11. DEMOGRAPHICS • 128 Rotarians responded to the survey. • 80% of the responding Rotarians were male and 20% were female.

  12. How Well Does Our Current Organizational Model Work? In September 2010 we presented an electronic survey conducted by Zoomerang to prepare for our strategic planning activity. Debbie McKeon (NorthSky) analyzed the results of the survey and facilitated the strategic planning meetings for our Rotary Club’s board. She spent many hours of her personal time to help us through this planning process.

  44. The Rotary Show is our primary means of raising funds to support our community grant program administered through the Good Works Committee. Revenues have been declining.
