Green computing refers to the environmentally responsible use of computers and related resources, focusing on energy-efficient central processing units (CPUs), servers, and peripherals. This practice minimizes resource consumption and promotes proper disposal of electronic waste (e-waste). Key aspects include green use, green disposal, green design, and green manufacturing. An example is thin client computing, which relies on server resources, reducing ownership costs and energy usage. Embracing green computing saves energy, money, and contributes to a healthier environment.

What is Green Computing • environmentally responsible use of computers and related resources • implementation of energy-efficient central processing units (CPUs),servers and peripherals • reduced resource consumption and proper disposal of electronic waste (e-waste)
In a word More directly, it means using computers or devices in ways that save the environment, save energy and save money. • 4 aspects to be “Green”: • Green use: Minimizing the electricity consumption of computers and other devices • Green disposal: Re-making or recycling unwanted electronic equipments • Green design: Designing energy-efficient computers, servers, printers and other digital devices • Green manufacturing: Minimizing waste during the manufacturing of computers and other subsystems
example of Green computing: Thin Client A Thin Client is a computer or a computer program which depends heavily on some other computer (its server) to fulfill its traditional computational roles. • Thin Client: • a regular computer • do not have to have hard drives • can run the software, with the help of a server • connected to servers through network
Thin-client computing is also a way of easily maintaining computational services at a reduced total cost of ownership. The most common type of modern thin client is a low-end computer terminal which concentrates solely on providing a graphical user interface to the end-user.
