Fanshawe College • Established in 1967, grew to four campuses: London, St. Thomas, Simcoe and Woodstock • More than 100 diploma, postgraduate and certificate programs in technology, business, applied arts, heath and human services • Approximately 15,000 full-time students, 30,000 continuing education registrants annually • Sixth largest of Ontario’s 24 colleges

  2. 2009/10 R&D Milestones Centre for Applied Research, Innovation & University Partnerships (ARIUP) celebrates fifth anniversary (est. March 2005) Year of “firsts” -- first CCI grant - Centre for Sustainable Energy & Environments (CSEE); first OCE grant for solar project with Virelec Ltd. NIE (CONII2) created/funded, $ for colleges to work with industry; Ottawa doubles CCI budget to $30M/yr NSERC and SSHRC eligible

Helps studentsdevelop research and learning skills that enhance their employability Helps faculty stay current Enhances College’s reputation and enables offering of applied degrees Creates potential for acquisition of new resources Contributes to communities, business and industry

  5. Students & Innovation Students participate through co-op work terms As research assistants Through capstone projects in final semesters of study (groups or individuals) or through focused classroom-based projects embedded in curriculum Focus is on highly qualified graduates

Needs analysis and assessment Project development from concept to commercialization including ID of possible external funding sources Project development, testing and validation services, associated marketing services Faculty/staff/student expertise, access to facilities/equipment R&D Services for Business
