  2. Du’aa: Invocation • Du’aa is defined as any invocation or prayer addressed to Allah (swt). • Du’aa can change fate, while no action of ours ever can. • Du’aa is the essence of Ibadah or worship. • With Du’aa we can never fail; wiYourt it, we can never succeed. • In the proper scheme of things Du’aa should be the first and the last resort of the believer. • With all his plans and actions coming in between, Du’aa is conversation with Allah, our Creator, our Lord and Master, the All Knowing, the Almighty.

  3. And your Lord says: "Call on Me; I will answer your (Prayer):Surah 40, Ayah 60 • وَقَالَ رَبُّكُمُ ادْعُونِي أَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمْ ۚ إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ عَنْ عِبَادَتِي سَيَدْخُلُونَ جَهَنَّمَ دَاخِرِينَ

  4. Al-Saheefa al-Sajjadiya • Al-Saheefa al-Sajjadiya is a collection of supplications and whispered prayers • It was composed by Zainul Abideen, the great-grandson of Prophet Muhammad. • The title "Al-Saheefa al-Sajjadiya" means "the book of Sajjad", • Sajjad being the epithet of Ali ibn Husain, the fourth Shi'a Imam.

  5. Al-Saheefa al-Sajjadiya as considered • Al-Saheefa al-Sajjadiya has several titles, such as • "Sister of the Quran", • "Gospel of the Holy Household" and • "Psalms of the Muhammad dynasty", • In the form of supplication, it expresses Islamic knowledge and Yourght and • It involves all aspects of individual, social, economical, political and cultural life. • Reason, human feelings, emotions and conscience are all addressed by it

  6. Al-Saheefa al-Sajjadiya • Narrations state that Sajjad composed Al-Saheefa al-Sajjadiya after the Battle of Karbala (680 AD). • Imam Sajjad used rich and meaningful supplications to reconstruct society and distribute Islamic knowledge. • It seems Al-Saheefa al-Sajjadiya (which was protected from government agents by Imam Sajjad’s sons and companions) • was a sectarian and organizational booklet, which if the access of the government agents to it would nullify all Imam Sajjad's efforts.

  7. Al-Saheefa al-Sajjadiya • Al-Saheefa al-Sajjadiya was at the forefront of the uprising against the Umayya.  • Salutations to Muhammad and his dynasty are repeated in most of its supplications, • while the Umayya Khilaafah consistently tried to wipe out the name and memory of Muhammad and his family. • In several supplications Imam Sajjad explained what Imamate meant, • who is allowed to be an imam (leader), and • what the conditions of Imamate are to be, • All was because the subject of Prophet’s succession and the concept of Imamate were faced with serious challenge after the death of Muhammad (pbuh) and particularly after the Battle of Karbala.

  18. أللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْنِي أَهَابُهُمَا هَيْبَةَ السُّلْطَانِ الْعَسُوفِ، وَأَبَرُّهُمَا بِرَّ الأُمِّ الرَّؤُوفِ، • and let me be scared as one towards an oppressive ruler • And be devoted to them, with the devotion of a compassionate mother!

  19. وَاجْعَلْ طَاعَتِي لِوَالِدَيَّ وَبِرِّيْ بِهِمَاأَقَرَّ لِعَيْنِي مِنْ رَقْدَةِ الْوَسْنَانِ، • Make my obedience and devotion to them more joyful to my eyes than sleep to the sleepy

  20. وَأَثْلَجَ لِصَدْرِي مِنْ شَرْبَةِ الظَّمْآنِحَتَّى أوثِرَ عَلَى هَوَايَ هَوَاهُمَا • and more refreshing to me than a drink to the thirsty, • so that I may prefer their inclinations to my inclination,

• And set their satisfaction before my satisfaction, • and magnify their devotion to me, though it be little, • and minimize my devotion to them though it be great.

  22. أللَّهُمَّ خَفِّضْ لَهُمَا صَوْتِي،وَأَطِبْ لَهُمَا كَلاَمِي،وَأَلِنْ لَهُمَا عَرِيْكَتِي، • O God, lower before them my voice, • make agreeable to them my words, • make my temper before them mild ,

  28. أَوْ أَسْرَفَا عَلَىَّ فِيْهِ مِنْ فِعْل،أَوْ ضَيَّعَاهُ لِي مِنْ حَقٍّ أَوْ قَصَّرا بِي عَنْهُ مِنْ وَاجِب • And act through which they have been immoderate with me, • right of mine which they have left neglected, • or obligation toward me in which they have fallen short,

  29. فَقَدْ وَهَبْتُهُ وَجُدْتُ بِهِ عَلَيْهِمَا،وَرَغِبْتُ إلَيْكَ فِي وَضْعِ تَبِعَتِهِ عَنْهُمَا • I grant it to them and bestow it upon them, • and I beseech You to remove from them its ill consequence,

  30. فَإنِّي لا أَتَّهِمُهُمَا عَلَى نَفْسِي،وَلاَ أَسْتَبْطِئُهُمَا فِي بِرِّي،وَلا أكْرَهُ مَا تَوَلَّياهُ مِنْ أَمْرِي يَا رَبِّ • for I do not accuse them concerning myself,  • find them slow in their devotion toward me, • or dislike the way they have attended to my affairs, my Lord!

  32. وَأَعْظَمُ مِنَّةً لَـدَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ أقَاصَّهُمَا بِعَدْل،أَوْ أُجَازِيَهُمَا عَلَى مِثْل، • and kindness toward me that is mightier • than that I should settle accounts with justice • or repay them with equivalents.

• Where then, my God, would be their long occupation with bringing me up? • Where the hardship of their toil in taking care of me?

  34. وَأَيْنَ إقْتَارُهُمَا عَلَى أَنْفُسِهِمَا لِلتَّوْسِعَةِ عَلَيَّ؟هَيْهَاتَ مَا يَسْتَوْفِيَانِ مِنِّي حَقَّهُمَا،  • Where depriving themselves to provide me with plenty? • What an idea! I can never discharge their right against me,
