Required Components • Introduction • Body of Report • Conclusion • Bibliography • Visual Aid • Notes and Drafts
Introduction • Draw your reader in with an intriguing fact or question. • Donot start with: “My report is about…” • Prepare your reader for the information you will present. • Edit and revise as needed.
Body of Report • Compose at least three strong paragraphs. • Make sure that each paragraph has a topic sentence. • Remove any sentence in your paragraph that does not relate to your topic sentence. • Edit and revise as needed.
Conclusion • Summarize what you have presented. • Give your reader a sense of closure. • Put the information that you have presented in a larger context. • Do not end your report with: “I hope that you liked my report.” • Edit and revise as needed.
Bibliography • Cite a minimum of three sources • Use your Sample Bibliography. • Refer to the Citing Sources page in your LA/SS notebook. • Check punctuation, capitalization, underlining, and spelling carefully.
Visual Aid • Create a visual aid to enhance your presentation. • Create a poster. • Build a model. • Draw a map. • Make a costume. • Select the visual aid which will be most suitable for your topic.
Notes and Drafts • When you turn in your final draft, you must also turn in: • all of the notes you have taken • your report planner • your outline • your author/editor worksheet • your first draft
