  2. Review! • How do we find what declension a noun is? • We look at the genitive • If the genitive ends in –ae it will be 1st declension • If the genitive ends in –i it will be 2nd declension • What are the 2nd declension masculine endings? • Us, ī, ō, um, ō, ī, ōrum, īs, ōs, īs

  3. 2nd declension neuters • 2nd declension neuters are the SAME as the masculine, except in the nominative, accusative and vocative cases • Remember this rule!- Neuter nominatives and accusatives are always the same! Sg. Pl. Nominative- UM A Genitive- Ī Ōrum Dative- ŌĪs Accusative- UM A Ablative- Ō Īs Vocative- UM A

  4. Practice! • Decline donum, donī n. • Nominative- donumdona Genitive- donīdonōrum Dative- donōdonīs Accusative- donumdona Ablative- donōdonīs Vocative- donumdona • Which adjective principal part would you use to match with donum?

  5. Predicate nouns/adjectives • SUBJECT + verb to be + noun or adjective in predicate • Subject = adjective/noun • Bacchiaestpuella. • Canisestparvus. • Donumestmalum.

  6. Attribute and Substantive Adjectives • Attributive adjective- simple modifiers • VirRōmānus • Magna Fēmina • Substantive adjective- adjectives that take the place of a noun • Amōbonōs. • Paucīmēcōgitant.

  7. And for something new! The Present indicative of sum “to be” sg. Pl. 1st sum (I am) sumus (we are) 2ndes (you are) estis (ya’ll are) 3rdest (he/she/it is) sunt (they are) Infinitive= esse
