  1. Writing a Materials List List format (bulleted) Be specific about the QUANTITY of any items used Be specific about the KIND of items used Be sure to include ALL items needed Write a materials list from the procedures given.

  2. Answer: MATERIALS: • Scissors • Printed text • Ruler • Microscope slide • Dropper • Water • Coverslip • Compound microscope • Fibers • Transparent Ruler • Plant stem or root • Prepared bacteria slide

  3. Writing Lab Procedures: • Make it a NUMBERED list (no bullets) • Be very careful to specify how many and what kind of materials needed to be used and when. • Example: If you list the need for 3 beakers and you use 2 in the beginning of the lab and use the remaining one later, be sure the procedures state that. • Use clear language. • Give detailed but brief steps • Give procedures for DOING the expt. AND RECORDING the data. Write the procedures for tying your shoe.

  4. Answer: • Grab one lace in each hand. • Cross one lace over the other lace until the two laces form an “X.” Switch the laces from one hand to the other while doing so. • Take the upper portion of one half of the X and cross it under the other lace (through the bottom portion of the X that was made). • With one lace in each hand, pull the laces down and away from one another until they are crossed tightly on the top of the foot. You may drop the laces. • Pick up one lace in one hand and fold it over so that a loop is formed near the top of the foot. Hold the loop in place with your thumb and forefinger. • With the other hand, take the other lace and wrap it around the lace within your thumb and forefinger of the other hand one time. • Etc, etc, etc. You get the idea. It’s tricky and takes a lot of thought. Remember someone else, who may have no idea what you are talking about, must be able to repeat your steps AND get the same result!!
