Launched in October 2006 as an initiative of First Lady Maria Shriver Provides a searchable database of more than 45,000 diverse volunteer opportunities Housed at CaliforniaVolunteers.org – a website that connects virtually all Californians to local volunteer opportunities California Volunteer Matching Network

Website aggregates opportunities from Hubs and virtual volunteer matching sites “Hubs” = volunteer connector organizations (Volunteer Centers, Hands On affiliates, etc.) Currently 27 Hubs serve 46 counties (over 85% of California’s population) Hubs help local nonprofits and public agencies identify, develop and post community volunteer opportunities How CVMN Works

  4. Volunteers indicate the volunteer cause they are interested in and where they want to serve. This generates a list of appropriate opportunities.

  5. Volunteers click on the opportunity they are interested in to learn more about it and to sign up

CVMN – More Than Technology • CVMN local partners serve a central role as CaliforniaVolunteers implements various activities throughout the state such as: • Recruiting needed volunteers for CaliforniaVolunteers and other state-led projects • Identifying potential projects • Promoting and partnering in various CaliforniaVolunteers activities • Supporting volunteer needs as part of disaster response and recovery
