Session Objectives • Identify processes and best practices that will assist you in determining and developing future leaders for your chapter • Determine the people, tools and resources that are available to assist you in your leadership role • Clarify your president-elect role and responsibilities and determine how best to work with your president

  3. How To Participate • Listen, contribute and ask questions. • Be comfortable. • Think of how you can apply what you learn. • Observe and share...with the whole group. • Cell phones/pagers/things that beep .. off or on silent or vibrate please. • Have fun!

  4. Meet Your Neighbours • In the next five minutes, introduce yourselves to your table-mates • What do you want to learn from this session? • Elect a spokesperson to share one thing with the group.

How You Support Our Strategy Chapters also support Objectives 2 and 3: Increase awareness and influence about the value of meetings with senior decision-making executives at corporations, associations and organizations Identify trends and deliver innovative solutions to ensure MPI is the premier market place for both suppliers and planners.   14. Wingman • The Wingman was originally a term referring to the plane flying beside and slightly behind the lead plane in an aircraft formation. • To conserve fuel by reducing air resistance and turbulence • To position the aircraft in such a way as to enhance mutual survival in a hostile environment.

  15. Co-pilot • At times, you may have to fly the plane • Conduct a board meeting • Speak on behalf of the president

  16. Chief Operating Officer • Your president is leading from 80,000 feet above providing strategic guidance to enable other board members to do their jobs. • You are on the ground. Your role is more tactical. You are the “go-to” person regarding processes, practices, procedures.
