STUDENT COMMENTS • Does the 3D projection help you learn? • Yes • Number Of Responses37 • Percentage Of Responses(76%) • No • Number Of Responses12 • Percentage Of Responses(24%) • Explain: • “The 3D projector really helped since it was kind of hands on, and different which made everyone pay attention”
MORE COMMENTS: • “because I am a visual learner it helped a lot to see it in a bigger perspective” • “It provided a better visualization than the textbook.” • “It helped to see a 3D view of things; it was easier for me to picture it and understand the structure.” • “Yes, it provides images based on reality, and keeps me paying attention because its new and interesting.” • “It is a very engaging tool.”
Lessons Learned and Best Practices Safety- • Have students and parents sign a safety contract • Educate about 3D safety and Use Issues • If headaches or nausea, have students take off glasses (can watch in 2D) • Persistent issues may require an eye doctor's visit • Success with 2 students in catching eye sight issues which led to prescription glasses Achievement- • Students drew pictures in notes in 3D aspect rather than 2D • Students displayed higher level thinking as they noted "mistakes" in 3D • Students with ADHD, ADD, Asperger's were able to focus for longer periods of time • Students overall were more motivated and focused
Lessons Learned and Best Practices • So far no significant increase with multiple choice questions, but essay writing (descriptions) were improved by 10-11% • Need to work on finding a way to see how 3D affects increase in scores • Need to assess in 3D as that is the modality they are learning in • Future-Continue to create lessons with software companies and think about how to assess more effectively in 3D
