  1. Title

  2. What Is The Wrath/Anger Of God? Is It The Same? Is It Different From How We Get Angry/Wroth?

  3. The fierce anger of the LORD shall not return, until he have done it, and until he have performed the intents of his heart: in the latter days ye shall consider it. Jer.30:24

  4. Let's Ask God For The Answer?: Isa 55:8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.

  5. Points To Remember: Are We Willing To Consider The Meaning Of The Anger Of God? Are We Willing To Admit That God's Ways And Methods Are Not Like Ours? Does God “Get” Anything? Does He Change?

  6. Let's Get Two Things Out Of The Way: Man's Wrath Is Unrighteous (James 1:20) Man's Anger Needs To Be Put Away (Ephesians 4:31)

  7. These Scriptures speak so much for themselves. Do you agree? ….So Let's Move On.....

  8. Psa 145:17 The LORD is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works. Note: If God exercises anger, if He is wrathful, then, it must be part of His ways, it must be righteous. But Notice that when God appeared to Moses and had all His goodness pass before Moses....no mention is made of: “full of wrath and anger”:

  9. Exo 34:6 And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, Exo 34:7 Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin

  10. No mention of Anger as part of His righteous character. So we then need to ask a needed but difficult question:

  11. Did Sin Change The Way God Operates?

  12. Let's Ask God To Answer This Question Also: Mal 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed. Jas 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. Heb 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

  13. As a student of the Word, you must never back down from statements of Scripture! Remember that only one passage of Scripture is a direct statement of God's thought's and intent...that is of course the 10 Commandments. (Exodus 20:3-17) I Speak As A Man!

  14. Even then....as we have it now is over 4,000 years after they were first written down. We believe that God preserved His Word. But did He allow man to use words and terminology that he was familiar with? Did God ever command the Bible writers to write exactly what He wanted? I Speak As A Man!

  15. The answer to the first question is of course yes: In Psalms 23, David as a Shepherd by trade wrote of God as a Shepherd, all of the imagery there is from his own experience of leading sheep. The answer to question two is absolutely not: Here Is Paul: Gal_3:15 Brethren, I speak after the manner of men 2Co_8:8 I speak not by commandment 1Co_7:6 But I speak this by permission, and not of commandment. Rom 3:5 (I speak as a man) I Speak As A Man!

  16. No matter how many men wrote the Bible, no matter what culture, background, upbringing, etc....none can contradict the fact that God has never ever changed His mind on any matter concerning the things done in this Earth: A Difficult Question Answered!

  17. No matter how many men wroth the Bible, no matter what culture, background, upbringing, etc....none can contradict the fact that God has never ever changed His mind on any matter concerning the things done in this Earth: A Difficult Question Answered!

  18. Isa 57:15 For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones. Isa 57:16 For I will not contend for ever, neither will I be always wroth: for the spirit should fail before me, and the souls which I have made. Isa 57:17 For the iniquity of his covetousness was I wroth, and smote him: I hid me, and was wroth, and he went on frowardly in the way of his heart. Isa 57:18 I have seen his ways, and will heal him: I will lead him also, and restore comforts unto him and to his mourners. A Difficult Question Answered!

  19. The key verse of this Scripture is verse 15, where it shows that God does not dwell in time: This is key for two reasons: In time, creatures grow and change In time, creatures cannot foretell the future God is changeless and God can see the future A Difficult Question Answered

  20. The answer to the difficult question then is, No!: Mal 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not Sin in no way changed how God operated. Do we have evidence of how God dealt with sin before sin? Of course not, so we cannot truly say we know how God would have dealt with sin, before it occurred..but do we have a clue, that God...knew about the emergence of sin and had a plan to meet it?: Again there is a Yes answer: Rev.13:8: ...The Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. A Difficult Question Answered!

  21. The next logical question to ask: If God knew that we were going to sin and if He had already a remedy in place when we sinned, why does He still get angry? The Anger Of The Lord

  22. First. Let us see how God addresses human anger: Gen 4:5 But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell. Gen 4:6 And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen? Gen 4:7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him. The Anger Of The Lord

  23. Are we saying that God's anger/wrath is Him losing control? That He “flies off the handle” and does rash things, because He does not get His way?: Psa 145:17 The LORD is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works. LET'S SEE EXAMPLES The Anger Of The Lord

  24. Exo 4:14And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Moses, and he said, Is not Aaron the Levite thy brother? I know that he can speak well. And also, behold, he cometh forth to meet thee: and when he seeth thee, he will be glad in his heart. Exo 4:15And thou shalt speak unto him, and put words in his mouth: and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall do. The Anger Of The Lord

  25. Notice that we did not have to go too far to find how God's anger is defined. In Exodus 4, Moses is fighting hard not to fulfill his divine destiny as God's man of the time...God showed him repeatedly that He would be with him, yet he was still fearful and timid. Then for the first time in Scripture we have the term: “The anger of the Lord” How was God's “anger” given expression: What did you read: He gave in to Moses' request. The Anger Of The Lord

  26. God's Anger then, can be expressed in the words of: Gen 6:3 And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh God wrestles with men until we tell Him, leave us alone (Job 22:15-17) and He has no choice but to leave us alone (Hosea 4:17). The Anger Of The Lord

  27. One thing we can both agree on is that, God fully respects the choices of His creatures. We can agree that even though God animated (gave us live), He does not run us as automatons (robots). We are totally free to choose to serve, or choose to reject Him: Jos 24:15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. The Anger Of The Lord

  28. Let us discover now how God's wrath is expressed: Rom 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Rom 1:19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. Rom 1:24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Rom 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: Rom 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; The Anger Of The Lord

  29. The Anger Of The Lord: God Giving Us Up To Our Choice. In this condition God gives man time to see that his ways are not best, and He has time to turn back (it is also called “a little wrath”): See Isa:54:7-8 The Wrath Of God: God Giving Us Up To Ourselves. In other word, we are fully and finally given up (Hosea 4:17), God sees that there is nothing more He can do for the individual and He turns him over to what He wants....God leaves him, finally....alone. Question, Friend: What happens if God is not for us (See Romans 8:31)? The Anger Of The Lord

  30. Let's Look At Parallel Scriptures: Rom 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Isa 59:1 Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: Isa 59:2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear. Isa 59:3 For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness. Isa 59:4 None calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity. The Anger Of The Lord

  31. No one....not even ourselves can separate ourselves from God's love...we can choose to stop loving Him...but God will never stop loving us (Jer.31:3). However we can separate ourselves from God...by our sins. Yet it isn't our initial separation that causes destruction...it is our persistent refusal to return to God: The Anger Of The Lord

  32. Rom 10:21 But to Israel he saith, All day long I have stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people. Joh 5:40 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life. Mic 2:10 Arise ye, and depart; for this is not your rest: because it is polluted, it shall destroy you, even with a sore destruction. The Anger Of The Lord

  33. God sees the results of what would happen if we refuse to return within the fortress of safety, He sees the destruction that await us as we continue to linger on Satan's enchanted ground: Isa 46:10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done... Note: Let's make this point clear. God spoke us into existence...it doesn't take any effort on His part to take us out. God sitting down devising ways to take out dust is contrary to Scripture: The Anger Of The Lord

  34. Psa 103:8 The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. Psa 103:9 He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever. Psa 103:10 He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. Psa 103:11 For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. Psa 103:12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. Psa 103:13 Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him. Psa 103:14 For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust. The Anger Of The Lord

  35. Now That We Dealt With The Issues Concerning Anger. We can see how God operates in light of statements where He says “I Will Kill You With The Sword”....Once More With Emphasis: If God wanted to take us out...He wouldn't even have to breathe a word...If God wanted to kill anyone who could stand and defend themselves...none...If God should ever “get” angry...who shall be able to stand?...Let us now deal with the end time wrath of God issue:

  36. Rev 14:9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, Rev 14:10The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: Rev 14:11And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name. The Wrath Of God

  37. In the book of Revelation we see a principle concerning the wrath of God (Rev.15:1-2): The end time wrath of God is said to be His “full” wrath. Notice that in our last slide...it says...it is poured out upon the worshipers of the beast! The Wrath Of God

  38. Watch How It Is Done: Rev 16:5 And I heard the angel of the waters say, Thou art righteous, O Lord, which art, and wast, and shalt be, because thou hast judged thus. Rev 16:6 For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and thou hast given them blood to drink; for they are worthy. Remember that the wrath of God is Him surrendering a people to themselves? In other words, after longingly and lovingly pleading for man to turn from His idols...He turns him loose to those idols (reprobate mind, uncleanness..etc)....he has reached the full measure....ripe for destruction...and God releases him....He gives him up: The Wrath Of God

  39. Psa 34:21 Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate. Hos 13:9 O Israel, thou hast destroyed thyself Hos 14:1 ...for thou hast fallen by thine iniquity. The Wrath Of God

  40. Jesus suffered the “wrath of God” so that none of us would have to: Rom 8:32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? So why then will anyone suffer the wrath of God, if Jesus already suffered it, for them....choice!!! The Wrath Of God

  41. Joh 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. Joh 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. Joh 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. The Wrath Of God

  42. When Jesus was dying on the cross...He bore...the full wrath of God...He had to...or else He could not be said to have paid the ransom price. Notice how the Father deals with sin in Christ? He turned from it in Him...and by extension Him...but it was Christ as man...who separated Himself from God, He chose to identify with with the transgressor (Isa.53:12), and He bore the penalty of the transgressor The Wrath Of God

  43. The end-time full wrath of God is His giving them up, finally to destruction. By their choice (it seems that they DID think it evil to serve the LORD Jos.24:15), they hid themselves away from the saving power of the Holy Spirit, and what could He do for them?: The Wrath Of God

  44. Today if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts. Hebrews 4:7 www.thewordmasterpresents.com
