  1. A salesperson is trying to persuade Jamie to buy an electronic dictionary.(J = Jamie, S = Salesperson)

  2. J: I already have a Japanese dictionary at home, thank you. S: But not an electronic one, right? J: No, but why would I need an electronic dictionary? S: Well, first, it’s easy to carry. You can put this one in your pocket!

  3. J: That’s useful, but if it’s so small, does it have enough words? Remember, I'm studying Japanese at college, so I have a lot of vocabulary to learn. S: It has more than enough words. It stores more words than almost any “book” dictionary. J: OK, but I usually study at home, so what’s the point of getting one of these?

  4. S: Can you pronounce every word you look up in the dictionary? J: Not very well. I usually need to look at the boring pronunciation guide. S: With this dictionary, you can look up a word, then press a button, and it speaks the word, or a whole sentence. Listen....

  5. J: Wow! It sounds like a real person. Let me try.... S: What do you think of it now? J: It’s interesting and fun to use. How much is it?
