  1. GIRL CHILD EDUCATION Project Developed by Neighbourhood School Students at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Mahianwala Kalan, Ferozepur,Punjab

  2. INTRODUCTION • FEROZEPUR, a City of martyrs (Saheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev) founded by Feroze Shah Tughluq. It is situated on the Indo-Pakistan border (Hussaniwala Border). • The Mahianwala Village is 40Km away from the city. JNV, Ferozepur is situated on N.H 15 which was established in the year 1992 at Baba Dhuni Chand Gurudwara, Mahianwala Kalan. In 1996, it was shifted to its permanent site which is situated (½ km. away from village Rattol) on the Amritsar - Bathinda Highway. • Our village Vakilanwala is situated 2 KM away from JNV Mahianwala in Distt. Ferozepur. S. Mall Singh is the best player of Kabbadi in our village. He played Kabbadi 40 years in his career.

  5. Why We Choose This Project Not a single Girl student was seen in our training of Intel Learn Program for ‘Neighbourhood Schools’. Therefore, to make people aware and educate village people about GIRL CHILD EDUCATION, we choose this project.

  6. OUR VISIT IN VILLAGE FOR SURVEY We notice that girls are cutting vegetables and boys are going to school and studying

  8. CAUSES OF LESS GIRL CHILD EDUCATION • ILLITERACY • POVERTY • MOTHER ILLITERATE • GENDER DISCRIMINATION • LACK OF TRANSPORTATION FACILITIES IN AREA • SCHOOLS AT LONG DISTANCE

SUGGESTIONS TO IMPROVE FORM ‘Balika Shiksha’ TASK FORCE, UNDER SDM LEADERSHIP, WITH PANCHAYAT REPRESENTATIVES, PARENTS, STUDENTS TO: • ORGANISE AWARENESS CAMPAIGNS. • ORGANIZE SKITS, NATAKS DURING SCHOOL FUNCTIONS AND OTHER COMMUNITY EVENTS. • TRY TO ENSURE RESERVATION FOR GIRLS IN SCHOOLS • SCHOOLS TO PROVIDE SCHOLARSHIPS FOR GIRL CHILDREN • FREE EDUCATION FOR GIRLS IN ALL SCHOOLS • INCREASE PARTICIPATION BY GOVERNMENT AND COMMUNITY
