  2. Duties of the Chief Project Architects: (Project planning from conception to delivery.) Technology and People Tasks Needs and Trend Analysis, Solution Identification, Administration Buy-In, Vendor Negotiation, Operational Administration, Faculty Buy-In, Student Buy-In, Ongoing Promotion and Incentives, Deployment, Technical Training and Support, Ongoing Evaluation) Duties of the Construction Engineers: (see later slides) Duties of the Shareholders: (see later slides)

  3. What is Lecture Capture? Lecture capture is using technology to make audio and/or video recordings of a presenter offering content to a learner. Old examples included instructional films, filmstrips, audio and video cassettes. Modern examples include podcasts, ivyVILOS, and live class sessions uploaded for on-demand playback.

Automated lecture capture • Creates multimedia and podcast-ready versions of every lecture captured • Records audio, computer screen, optional graphic inputs and/or camera video of lectures • Audio – classroom installed microphone • Screen – live and prepared graphic content • Video – optional if a camera is installed • Posts lectures to Blackboard etc.

Lecture capture examples: • Math: Capture step by step process or math procedure. • Speech: Capture student presentations for constructive review with students. • Art History: Capture a variety of pictures in books, slides, etc. using the document camera. • Language: Demonstrate correct pronunciation. • Physics: Demonstrate physical principles, capturing the motion with the video camera.

  26. UMASS Lecture Capture Findings Calculus courses had a success rate (a grade of C or better) 11 percent higher than their peers, and received 10 percent fewer Ds, Fs, or withdrawals. "Calculus 1 students overwhelmingly credited the ability to review lectures as playing a role in improving their understanding of calculus concepts," "The data indicates that EchoSystem lectures have played a part in better preparing students for Calculus 2, a prerequisite for succeeding in advanced engineering and other hard science majors."
