The government regulated the economy during WWII • American industry needed to be reorganized to supply the war effort • The War Production Board (WPB) distributed raw materials and decided which companies would switch to war production • The demands of the military meant that fewer goods were available for civilians. Reduced supply leads to higher prices • The Office of Price Administration (OPA) froze the price of many goods to prevent inflation • Rationing was implemented for many scarce items, such as food and gasoline
