  11. Martin Luther was a Law student attending Erfurt. His father was a miner and worked really hard to put him through college. • Lutherdid not like law school, and one day he got caught in a lightning storm while on a stroll. • Luther prayed to St. Anne, promising to become a monk if he survived the storm

  12. Papal Bulls and indulgences were slips of paper from the catholic church that people would pay for to get rid of their sin. • Transubstantiation was the thought that the wine and the bread of communion actually had pieces of Jesus in them. • Excommunication is when the church kicks you out.

  13. Tetzel was a Friar that was charged with collecting the indulgance fees. • The “notice on the all saints bulletins board” and the 95 reason are referencing the 95 thesis

  14. Lutherwould write little booklets, or tracts that the common people liked because they were simple enough for non-theologians to understand. • King Charles asked him to recant his writings because they went against the Catholic Church.

  15. Duke Frederick sheltered Martin from the Church • While Martin was being sheltered he translated parts of the bible from Latin into German. Back then the bible was all in Latin only the Priests could read it.

  16. The Concord books were a set of boks that held Lutheran doctorines • “Catholic is spelled in lowercase” catholic-meaning universal, not the Super church. • Katherine Von Bora was Luthers wife.
