  2. Chaos Tag • When to Use ; Warm up Game • Focus : Spatial Awareness, FMS (Run and Dodge) • Equipment : Cones x 10 • Game Description • Set up area to play. Depending on the amount of children, look at ½ basketball court for 20 children • Start the game by explaining the rules • Rules • Every child for themselves • Students can get tagged or tag others • When tagged you will stand in a designated area • Winner is the last child standing • Game Modifications • Change where students can tag in players who have been tagged out • Grade Level : Grade 3 to Year 12 (c) AcePE2016

Foxes, Goats and Elephants • When to Use ; Warm up Game • Focus : Spatial Awareness, FMS (Run and Dodge), Listening and interpreting instructions • Equipment : Cones x 10 ( if a boundary is needed • Game Description • Set up area to play. Depending on the amount of children, look at ½ basketball court for 20 children • Start the game by explaining the rules • Rules • Every child for themselves • Students start by picking an animal to imitate (Goat, fox or elephant) • When tagged a student will magically turn into the animal that they were tagged by (eg : fox tags goat, goat turns into a fox) • Game Modifications • Have a team of each animal and see how many people they can recruit by tagging them. Have a time limit on the game • Grade Level : Grade 3 to Year 12 (c) AcePE2016

  4. Survivor Series Tag • When to Use ; Warm up Game • Focus : Spatial Awareness, FMS (Run and Dodge) • Equipment : Cones x 10, Sashes x 10 • Game Description • Set up area to play. Depending on the amount of children, look at ½ basketball court for 20 children • Select two teams • The object is each team to try and tag out the opposition team • When tagged the team members sit out until a member of their team who is still free tags them back in • Game Modifications • Elimination Chamber : Players are tagged out and stay out until you say “ Chamber open” They then have 10 seconds to tag as many people back in until “Chamber closed is spoken • Grade Level : Grade 3 to Year 12 (c) AcePE2016

  6. Corner Chaos • When to Use ; Warm up Game • Focus : Accuracy Passing (Soccer) • Equipment : Cones x 10, 5 soccer balls • Game Description • Set up area to play. Depending on the amount of children, look at ½ basketball court for 20 children • You will need to make sure you have adequate lines on the ground that form corners • Ask students to find a corner and put soccer balls in the middle • Students will pass the soccer pass to another then run to another corner • Game Modifications • Pass Girl to boy • Run to a corner up the other end of the playing field after passing (c) AcePE2016

  7. Chase The Indian When to Use within lesson : Warm up, Wet Weather and recall skills Equipment: None Game description and Instructions • Students set up in groups of three. Number each team member • Set up a circle. Group members stand next to each other • When number called students will run around circle Anti clockwise • Get back to their spot and stand still Modifications • Change direction of running • Change locomotion • Use other cues instead of numbers ( eg : Colours, Cartoon Characters • Grade level : Grade 1 – Year 10 (c) AcePE2016

  8. Borderline Tag When to Use within lesson : Warm up, Wet Weather and recall skills Equipment: None Game description and Instructions • Set one team along the basketball centreline. They must have a gap between each child • The other team is set up outside the boundaries • One person comes in runs away from a tagger. • A tagger can tag another member of their team on the line at any time. They then replace them as a runner • Use a time linit to allow both teams to have a turn Modifications • Change direction of running • Change locomotion • Use other cues instead of numbers ( eg : Colours, Cartoon Characters • Grade level : Grade 1 – Year 10 (c) AcePE2016

Crue Convoy (Rock, Paper Scissors Challenge Conga Line Aka: Crue’ Convoy (Large Group Rock Paper Scissors) • When to Use within lesson : Warm up, Ice Breaker, wet weather and recall skills • Equipment: None • Game description and Instructions • Students pair up • Proceed to play Rock, paper scissors • Loser stands behind the person , placing their hands on their shoulders and start chanting their name and the winner moves around to find someone to play. This process continues through. • Ends up with the final two people to determine a winner (c) AcePE2016

North South East West When to play / Teaching Focus : Warm up, Ice Breaker, Cardiovascular Fitness Equipment: None (Note : must have distinct landmarks to designate directions to run) Game description and Instructions • Full court basketball area or equivalent required • Start students in centre or home base • Designate the Directions “North, South, East and West” • Have a visual mark for these cues (Eg; Wall colour etc) • Safety for younger kids, have a line or a point where they have to stop to avoid contacting walls or objects. Modifications • Change locomotion • Last man standing, eliminate last person to get to designated area • Grade level : Preps to Grade 4 (c) AcePE2016

Freeze game / Coaches Call Game Name: Freeze game / Coaches Call • When to play / Teaching Focus : Warm up, Ice Breaker Equipment: None • Game description and Instructions • Half court basketball area or equivalent required • Students will be given a Things to remember (eg : Whistle Means Freeze) • When they hear the teacher state that call, they will perform it Modifications • Utilise actions in the calls (eg : AFL : Take a mark, score a goal : High 5 Nearest Person) • Use Character impersonations ( John Cena : “You Cant see me” hand Signal, Pirates, Police officiers) • Incorporate a locomotion (Eg; Skipping or Running) • Grade level : Preps to Grade 4 (c) AcePE2016

Cowboys and Indians When to play / Teaching Focus : Warm up , Ice breaker, wet weather Sport Focus : Soccer Equipment: 4 – 5 Soccer Balls • Game description and Instructions • Divide the group into two teams. • Designate an end point or line the student must touch to be safe. (avoid collisions with walls and other objects in this game • Line them up along a middle line of the playing area • Students must face each other to start (can be in a standing sprint start position) • Designate which side is the cowboys/Cowgirls and Indians • On teachers command the group called out must run to the end point before getting tagged. Modifications • Shorten or lengthen playing field • Change groups around • Grade level : Grade 2 to Year 12 (c) AcePE2016

Hospital Ball When to Use within lesson : Warm up / End Game, wet weather Sport Focus ; Any team orientated sports Equipment: 5 Rubber / Nerf Balls Description : See Dodge Ball • Hospital Ball • If a player gets hit in either leg or arm they can’t use them • No legs they must kneel where they got hit • When hit in the back or the chest, player lays down where they got hit • To get player back in the game, two of their team mates must drag them behind their baseline. • These players are still at risk of getting hit. Thunderdome When to Use within lesson : Warm up / End Game, wet weather Sport Focus ; Any team orientated sports Equipment: 5 Rubber / Nerf Balls Description : See Dodge Ball • Thunderdome • When students are eliminated they will line up on the baseline of their opposing team, where they can throw the ball and get players out • Main rule; If the ball goes outside the playing lines, it becomes property of the players on the borders who then can throw people out • Older students ; allow a long pass between team mates on the opposite baseline and players in the game. Be aware to allow on a maximum amount of passes between players. (c) AcePE2016

Dodge Ball : War Games When to Use within lesson : Warm up / End Game, wet weather Sport Focus ; Any team orientated sports Equipment: 5 Rubber / Nerf Balls Description : See Dodge Ball War Games Elimination Rules into Dodge Ball • Create 4 even teams. One team is in the middle and the other teams spread out around a designated area (usually a netball third) • Object ; to hit as many people in the allotted time. This will be the amount of penalty points awarded to the team in the middle. • Designate a person with a sash. If they get hit its minus 10 to that team (c) AcePE2016

Dodge Ball : War Games • Focus Questions • What was your teams strategy when you were out numbered playing this game • When you decided as a team or individual to attack and invade the oppositions space, what were some of the ways you found were successful • When the teams were un even what did your team do? Did they hold back or did they go with an all out attack • If you were on a team where you didn’t have the same numbers what defensive strategies did you use to ‘Stay in the Game’ (c) AcePE2016

Wolfs Den When to Use within lesson : Skill application in Game Play, Warm up Focus : Warm up Equipment: 20 cones, 2 to 3 sashes Game description and Instructions • Set up in full basketball court • Have a middle area where the taggers will stand (eg : Middle netball third or equivalent) • Set up students half on one baseline, half on the other • Focus on the skill; basketball passing or soccer dribble and start with 3-4 balls • Select two wolves for the middle and they will defend the area specified • Students will attempt to get past the wolves to other side • If caught they will swap roles with the wolves Modifications • Change from pairs to threes • Increase the amount of wolves • Grade level : Grade 3 to Year 8 (c) AcePE2016

Zookeepers When to Use within lesson : Skill application in Game Play, Warm up Focus : Warm up Equipment: 20 cones, 2 to 3 sashes Game description and Instructions • Set up in full basketball court • Place three sets of cones in 3 squares up one end of the basketball court on the baseline • Have a middle area where the 3 taggers will stand (eg : Middle netball third or equivalent) • Set up students in three different animal groups • Select two zoo keepers for the middle • Students will attempt to get run away from the zookeepers for an allotted time If caught they will be placed back in their square • Object of the game is for the zoo keepers to round up the animals in an allotted time Modifications • Change from pairs to threes • Increase the amount of wolves • Grade level : Grade 2 to Year 8 (c) AcePE2016

Jail Break When to play / Teaching Focus :, Warm up, Ice Breaker, wet weather Sports Focus : None Equipment: 6 Cones if basketball centre ring isn’t available , 4 sashes Game description and Instructions • Select the area to play in (usually a full basketball court is appropriate) • Designate a jail area ( Usually the centre circle of basketball court • Select 3 to 4 police officers or taggers (each have a sash) • The police officers must tag the robbers (the rest of the class) • Placing a hand on the robbers shoulder they will place them in the designated Jail area • Once there are 10 robbers in jail, they will form a circle and countdown from 10. • After which they call out “Jail Break” and enter the game once again Modifications • Increase the amount of Police • Increase the amount of jails • Change locomotion • Grade level : Grade 3 to Year 12 (c) AcePE2016

Jail Break : The Great Escape When to play / Teaching Focus :, Warm up, Ice Breaker, wet weather Sports Focus : None Equipment: 6 Cones if basketball centre ring isn’t available , 4 sashes Game description and Instructions • “Great Escape”: 4 teams and all students are trying to tag out the other teams out. • All people are placed in one jail and their team members can release them by tagging. • Grade level : Grade 3 to Year 12 (c) AcePE2016

  21. Jail Break Focus Questions • Team work was and is the most important aspect of this game to be successful. What strategies as a one of the robbers were you applying not to get caught • Increased numbers of police officers and increased jails what changes that bring to your thinking as a police officer and a robber (c) AcePE2016

  22. Messy Neighbours When to Use ; End Game, Skill Development and Application, Teamwork, offensive and defensive strategies. Sport Focus : Any sport involving FMS ; throwing and catching Equipment : cones, 20 bean bags / or Tennis balls, Game Description • Set up two teams simular to dodge ball • Make sure you have a line of cones along the midline of the court • Ask students to stand still while you throw out objects • On the command “Messy Neighbours” Students will start throwing objects to the opposition side. • Students must complete the KTP’s of the FMS of the Throw • Make sure that all throws must be high and deep • Grade Level : Grade 4 to Year 12 (c) AcePE2016

  23. Trash compactor When to Use ; End Game, Skill Development and Application, Teamwork, offensive and defensive strategies. Sport Focus : Any sport involving FMS ; throwing and catching Equipment : cones, 20 bean bags / or Tennis balls, for Trash Compactor you will need two goals, or cones to make up a goal area. • Game Description (See Messy Neighbours for game set up) • Set up a goal area, either with portable goals or coned area • Set up cones in a half circle, 4 feet from the goal • No student is allowed into this area as they can defend anything from outside the area • 5 points for getting an object into the back of the goal. • Goalie can only go into the coned area if the object comes to a complete stop before the goal • Grade Level : Grade 4 to Year 12 (c) AcePE2016

Creatures of the Night / Octopus Tag When to Use within lesson : Skill application in Game Play, Warm up Equipment: Cones or polydots (10-15) and balls designated to particular sport Game description and Instructions • Set up in full basketball court Octopus tag : • two students start in the middle • Start with 6 students in field of play, each have a cone • The rest of students groups up in pairs Creatures of the Night • When tagged student places a polydot or cone on the ground, places one foot on it and moves arms like a creature of the night • This case they can take one step across to try and block the on coming runners( No contact allowed • One foot must be on the polydot/cone at all times • Runners must get to the other end using a skill and successfully complete amount of throws designated. • Grade level : Grade 3 to Year 8 (c) AcePE2016

  25. “SCRAM” When to Use within lesson : Warm up, Ice Breaker, wet weather Equipment: None Game description and Instructions • Pair up students • Set up two circles one inner and outer. • Pairs will start facing each other • On command inner circle will walk anticlockwise and outer the opposite way • Teacher Yells “SCRAM” • The inner circle has 10 seconds to tag their partner in the outer circle Modifications • Change the locomotion • Increase or decrease the time • Grade level : Grade 2 to Year 11 (c) AcePE2016

Chiefs, Horses and Warriors When to Use within lesson : Warm up, Ice Breaker, wet weather Equipment: None Game description and Instructions • Pair up students • Set up two circles one inner and outer. • Pairs will start facing each other • On command inner circle will walk anticlockwise and outer the opposite way Modification Game : Chiefs, Horses and Warriors • Same set up as ‘SCRAM” • Designate three things the students have to complete on command • Chiefs ; one stands in a tee pee position and the other sits in front of them • Horses ; one imitates a horse the other sits on their back (safety here the upmost importance) • Warriors ; one stands up straight with arm out the other down on one knee to get knighted • The last group to complete the task is out. • Might have to split the circles into two separate ones if group is large • Grade level : Grade 2 to Year 11.   27. “Texas Tornado” Ball When to Use within lesson : End Game, Skill Application (Kick, Throw and Catch) and Game Sense Equipment: 4 cones (Different colours), Ball Game description and Instructions • Level 1 : Years 2 – 5 • Full length basketball or close to and Split into two teams • Batting team kicks ball into area • Fielding team must throw the ball to each other. • After they have had a throw they will sit down • The last person to hold the ball yells out “Stop” • The runner must run around all the cones to score a home run • Level 2 : Years 6 to 10 (c) AcePE2016

The Hunted When to Use within lesson : Warm up or skill based game Sport Focus : FMS (Running, Dodge, Throw and Catch), Teamwork Equipment: Sashes (3), 2-3 Ball (Rubber Ball or equivalent) Game description and Instructions • Select 3 Students to be the Hunters • Students will run in designated Area (good start Half a basketball court) • Hunters start at the opposite end of the playing area • Object is for the Hunters to throw students out with the ball • When hit, that person becomes the hunter • Hunters can throw the ball between each other but can’t run with the ball Modifications • Increase the amount of taggers • Implement a skill base like Rugby pass • Place skipping ropes out. Pretend they are “Snakes” and students must leap over them. If they step ion them they are also out • Grade level : Grade 4 to Year 12 (c) AcePE2016

  29. The Hunted Focus Questions • What is the main skill that people need to know when trying to avoid being hit by the hunter • When you are the hunted against 20 hunters, do you have to move into an open space to be safe, Why would you do that? (c) AcePE2016

The Reverse Hunted When to Use within lesson : Warm up or skill based game Sport Focus : FMS (Running, Dodge, Throw and Catch), Teamwork Equipment: Sashes (3), 2-3 Ball (Rubber Ball or equivalent) Game description and Instructions • Select 3 Students to be the Hunted • Students will run in designated Area (good start Half a basketball court) • Hunters start at the opposite end of the playing area • Object is for the Hunters to throw students with an allotted time ( eg: 60 seconds) • Hunters can throw the ball between each other but can’t run with the ball Modifications • Increase the amount of taggers • Implement a skill base like Rugby pass • Grade level : Grade 4 to Year 12 (c) AcePE2016

The Hunted : Team Xtreme When to Use within lesson : Warm up or skill based game Sport Focus : FMS (Running, Dodge, Throw and Catch), Teamwork Equipment: Sashes (3), 6Ball (Rubber Ball or equivalent) Game description and Instructions • Two teams set up on the baselines of a basketball court • The students can run anywhere they want in the playing area to get someone out with a ball • One team wins they get all other members of the opposition team out • If a student catches the ball, all the students who are out come back in • Grade level : Grade 4 to Year 12 (c) AcePE2016

The Plague When to play / Teaching Focus : End Game / Skill Development, wet weather Sport Focus : Soccer Equipment: 4 – 5 Soccer Balls Game description and Instructions • Divide children into 4 Groups (YMCA) • Designate Boundaries, preferable half basketball court to start • Students will make a circle within their group • They will kick and pass the ball between teammates • While doing this the circle must move around the playing area at all times • Aim of the game is to keep the ball in your circle and avoid contact with other groups Modifications • Shorten or lengthen playing field • Make one team a tagging team • Grade level : Grade 2 to Year 12 (c) AcePE2016

Stingers Squadron When to play / Teaching Focus : End Game, Skill Application Sport Focus ; Invasion and Team style Games Equipment: 2 Hoops, 1 set of sashes, I ball Game description and Instructions • Full basketball court or equivalent • 2 teams with No contact and 1 metre defending on opponents with4 balls in play • Players start in their defending half of the court • Rules • Players can run anywhere in the designated area • When in possession of a ball players can run as far as they can to score a goal • When crossing the midline and players have a ball they can be tagged • When tagged they will place the ball on the floor and run off changing possession to the other team • Designate an area around the goal where no player can go into (eg : a half circle simular to netball semi circle) • Only can go into the goal area if a successful goal is scored. • No goal keepers (c) AcePE2016

  34. Stingers Squadron Focus Questions • As an attacker what is your strategy for scoring a goal • Is there team work involved in this game. If so explain how team work is used • As a defender, what is your role in the game. Explain it in detail, other than just defending the goals. (c) AcePE2016

Syclone Soccer • When to use : end game, when teaching team work and invasion game strategies, cardiovascular fitness, rolling and kicking skills • Equipment needed : 4 dodgeballs, 3 sets of cones (10), 4 soccer balls, 4 multi purpose balls, 10 blocks or pointed cones • Sport Orientation : Soccer • Description • This is set up as per Ultimate X dodgeball. Same rules play out in this game • Set up 5 cones or blocks at either end of the basketball court • Place a set of cones about 5 feet in front of them, simular to an end zone • Choose a goal keeper for each team • Place soccer balls in the middle • All soccer balls must stay on the ground when scoring • The goal keeper is the only person who is allowed in the end zone • Normal dodgeball rules apply (c) AcePE2016

  36. Escape from Alcatraz • When to use : end game, when teaching team work and invasion game strategies, cardiovascular fitness • Equipment needed : 4 hoops, 2 objects to acts as treasures (dodgeballs are usually the best option, 40 cones (15 blue and 25 white) Setting up the area • Play this game either on a basketball court or on the oval. If on an oval make the playing area a little bit bigger than a full sized basketball court • If students are older, increase the size of playing field • 2 hoops go into each back corner of the playing field. One of the hoops will contain the treasure • Grade level : Grade 3 to Year 12 • Place 15 blue cones down the middle of your playing area. Use the white cones to create your outside boundaries (c) AcePE2016

  37. Escape from Alcatraz Game Description • Two equal teams, set up on the back base lines • When started the teams are trying to get the one treasure from the hoop back to their area to win the game • Students can only be tagged when they cross the middle line • If students get tagged they go to the jail, which is the hoop on the oppositions side of the playing area. • Students can escape from the jail if one of their team mates gets to the jail and tags one person • This will mean all the people inside the jail can escape including the person who freed them • They must all run back to their baseline, touch the line and they are back in the game (c) AcePE2016

  38. Syclone City Demolition • When to use : end game, when teaching team work and invasion game strategies (Defending and attacking a space), cardiovascular fitness, rolling • Equipment needed : 4 dodgeballs, Cones (10), 6-8 multi purpose balls, 10 blocks or pointed cones, 4 polidots • Description • 2 teams • Set up cones along the lines of the netball thirds • 5 cones spread out on each end of the basketball court. • Start with 2 dodgeball and 5 multipurpose balls. • A student can roll a ball if the land on one of the polidots • Students who go out must stand or sit on the side of the playing area. • Teacher decides the method of re-entering the game. (Tag someone in or wait an aloted time (c) AcePE2016

Dot Spot Crazy • When to use : Warm up game, application of basic FMS • Equipment needed : Polidots x 10-15, Depending on the skill focus (Class set of Tennis Balls, basketballs or beanbags Description • Utilise a basketball court but determine whether you use ½ or full court • Place dots around the playing area • Students will have their equipment depending on the skill • The students will run around the playing area • The polidots are a safe zone but the students must complete a task on the them while on there , eg: bounce the ball 10 times • After which the run off • If tagged they must sit out of the game for 60 seconds or they go to a jail waiting to be tagged out or even perform push ups or squats. Teachers choice. (c) AcePE2016

Wolf Pack Tag • When to use : Warm up game • Equipment needed : 20 Cones (used for boundaries) Description • Use the dimensions of the basketball courtas boundaries • Ask students to get into groups of three • Most Important ; Teams have to know where each other are at all times • Object of the game is to try and tag out as many teams as possible • If team members get tagged out, they will go to a jail or designated area to sit. • Members can be tagged back in at any time • If all three are out. They must sit out of the game for up to 3 minutes. Then they can re-enter. (c) AcePE2016

Jungle City • When to use : End game • Equipment needed : 20 Poildots, 20 bean bags / tennis balls, 4 – 6 blocks, 1 bucket, 20 cones, 10 multi purpose balls or volleyballs Description • Using a full basketball court • You will have 3-4 defenders, 3 cleaners and the rest are attackers • Simular set up to Bears and Eaglesplacing a bucket and 4 -6 blocks around the centre • Place polidots around the area • Attackers will line up and wait their turn, pick up either a ball or bean bag • They will run and get on polidot before getting tagged and have a shot a the city. • Roll the ball or under arm throw the bean bag • Once the student has completed their turn they will join the end of the line • The designated “Cleaners” will collect all the balls and bean bags that are loose and place them back in the collection area, ready to use (c) AcePE2016

  42. Money in the bank • When to use : End game • Equipment needed : 20 Poildots, 20 bean bags / tennis balls, 4 – 6 blocks, 1 bucket, 20 cones, 10 multi purpose balls and 4 basketballs, 4 soccer balls • Sports Focus : defending an area and /or goal Description • Using a full basketball court • You will have 3 defenders • They will defend the basketball ring, 2 buckets or some blocks or soccer goal (Must have 3 different targets) • Designate the balls/ equipment used and which target matches up with it • Set 4 -5 cones on the opposition base line for kids to line up behind • The students will decide which target they will go for. • They select their equipment and come up the court for 5 v 3 (c) AcePE2016

Million dollar Dream (aka Royal Rumble Keepings off • When to use : End game • Equipment needed : 20 Cones for boundaries,, 1 basketball / Multi Purpose ball • Sports Focus : defending an area and /or goal, invasion game team work Description • Using a full basketball court • Split your class into 2 teams • First team is on the court and they must try and keep pocession of the ball • The teacher can determine the rules for this team including the passes used, the amount of time they can hold the ball • The second team will be sent in one at a time every 10-30 seconds • The aim is for the 2nd team to try and get the ball with the least amount of players • Switch the teams and replay the above points to find a winner (c) AcePE2016
