On September 17th, students will engage in creating a document of 6 to 8 fundamental human rights that everyone, regardless of their background, should possess. The plan includes listing basic rights, debating the responsibilities attached to these rights, and celebrating Constitution Day. Students will explore common rights across cultures, the implications when rights infringe upon others, and challenges in differing global perspectives. The session will also cover the U.S. Constitution and its Preamble, enriching students’ understanding of democracy and freedom of expression.

Tuesday, September 17th Create a document of 6 to 8 “Rights” that all human beings around the world should have.
Here is the plan… • Student’s will create a list of basic human rights. • Students will debate the responsibility that comes with exercising those rights. • Students will celebrate Constitution day!
List of Rights • Is there any rights that we all have in common? If so, which ones? • What happens when your rights infringe upon the rights of others? • What happens when people in other parts of the world don’t hold the same views as you? • What document protects the rights of individual Americans?
We the People… • Can you finish the Preamble to the Constitution? • Although many people contributed, James Madison is often called the Father of the Constitution.
Really BIGquestions Does Democracy “work” for ALL peoples? Should Freedom of speech protect your right to criticize, satirize, or make fun of someone else's religion?
