Family and Personal Relationships • Listening is the best way to show respect. • The goal is not so much to be loved, as it is to love. • By listening, do not prepare your defense. • What is the Motive behind our interaction with others? • “My idea is better than your idea.” • Think of a time where you used defense rather than listening. How could you have improved this situation?
Love is Spelled T-I-M-E • First: Remember that one of the most important things you can do for someone is listen. • Second: We cannot be right all the time. • Third: Asking for forgiveness is essential! • Fourth: You cannot have relationships without time.
Love is Spelled T-I-M-E The average dad spends: Over a Lifetime he spends: • 40-50 hours a week working. • 50 hours sleeping • 5 hours dressing / showering • 21 minutes with each child. (3 minutes a day.) • 12 years working • 25 years asleep • 3 years getting dressed • 11 days and 16 hours talking with each child
This doesn’t even account for the time spent watching TV. A Nielson survey (May 1991) showed many families spend an average of 50 hours a week watching TV.
