This infographic exclusively deals with the government grants available to schools, home-owners, farmers and individuals for taking up solar-lighting projects and so that going solar becomes easy and convenient for almost everyone. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development encourages the home-owners in low-income areas to install solar panel systems. The funds disbursed are required to be spent within 2 years of receipt. The U.S. DOE works with tribal home-owners to help them switch from grid energy systems to solar power systems. The effort is on to educate them about green initiatives including pursuing of green jobs, green technology etc. The U.S. Department of Agriculture helps farmers and small businesses located in rural areas to improve their existing energy systems. The U.S. Department of the Treasury provides tax credits and reimbursements to individuals who install solar panel systems. The reimbursements are half the cost of solar projects. The NREL (National renewable Energy Laboratory) has several funding options for K-12 schools. The GA Solar helps consumers find ways to access solar energy and educates on reducing the carbon footprints. If you are living in Texas, Illinois or Hawaii and running a school or college, you must contact the local government and power companies in your area along with few non-for-profit organizations to know about the energy grants. The State of Alabama provides schools and public facilities with loans on zero interest so that you can choose the most-efficient source of lighting. The good news is that a non-profit organization such as American Solar Energy Society is funding more than 100 schools for taking up solar lighting projects and have different kinds of LED solar lights installed. The NEED (National Energy Education Development Project) actively partners with several schools to educate teachers and children on maintaining a healthy and sustainable environment. The Walmart Foundation supports schools through out the nation by investing in several solar energy projects.
