Check your answers Word I: typical[i] adj. type [ai] v. & n. typically [i] adv. 1) 典型的，有代表性的 a typical Englishman 一个典型的英国人 This is a typical(典型的) example. 2）特有的，独特的，表现……特征的 Her typical way of speaking didn’t change at all. 她说话的独特方式根本就没变。 It is typicalof him to forget his umbrella. 他经常忘记带雨伞。 It is typical of sb. to do sth. 做……是……的特征

  4. Word II: aim • n. 目标，目的 • vi. & vt. 瞄准，（向……的方向）努力 1）vi. & vt. a)瞄准，针对，目的在于 aim at a target 瞄准靶子 aim at a success 志在成功 b)打算，企图 aim to do c)把……瞄准，把……对准 He aimed his gun at the enemy. 他把枪瞄准了敌人。 My remarks were not aimed at you. 我说的话不是针对你的。 总结：把……瞄准，把……对准 aim sth. at sb. sth.be aimed at sb.

  6. Word III： adopt vt. 采纳，采用，收养 1）采用，采取（计划，方法，措施等），采纳，吸收 Our school has adopted (已经采取)a new teaching method. We’d like to adopt(采纳) your idea. 2)收养 One’s adopted son / daughter.养子，养女 They are not my real parents. I am adopted. (我是被收养的。) As they had no children of their own, they adopted an orphan.(他们收养了一个孤儿。)

  7. Word IV: possess vt. 拥有，具有，支配 They possess three cars. (他们有三辆车。) He possesses (拥有)five acre（英亩）of land. possession n. 1）（u）拥有，具有，占有 I’ve had possession of this house for 7 years. 我已经拥有这个房子七年了。 2）（c）常用复数形式，possessions所有物，财产 He lost all his possessions(财产)in the fire. 大火中，他失去了所有的财产。
