What is the Internet? The Internet is a conglomerate of individual global networks both publicly and privately owned. These global owned and operated networks are interconnected and are composed of over 75o million hosts. A host is any computer that is enabled to reply and receive information on practically any imaginable topic that the computer user desires to search or research! You, Me, and Everybody globally make up the Internet!
The History & Backbone of the Internet The Internet backbone is made-up of net service providers. In addition, NSPs such as AT&T, NCI, Sprint, BBN, and UUNET are positioned globally to maintain the main high-speed routes through which data travels to and from computers that are within these serviced networks of the Internet!
The Key to the Internetis“Interoperability” The Internet is more than a means of transferring data from one computer to another. The main feature with the Internet is that it is compatible to almost and most makes and models of computer. So it doesn’t matter what the make or model may be, all types of computers are inclusive!
