Introduction Our team discussed and agreed to design four balls using distinctive materials and examine each ball’s functionality to determine the ball that can adapt the condition of the replica (mini-golf).
Goals :- • Design a perfect replica that can provide the needed conditions to ease the ball’s pathway. • Making a small business by developing the mini-golf gameplay , in the process of financial investments.
Scientific Concepts :- -COR : Coefficient Of Restitution formula: √rebound/drop height -Friction: which is the contact between the ball and the surface area used. -Impact: collision of the ball against the floor.
Materials Used:- • Rubber bands • Superglue • Two surfaces : 1-Green carpet 2-felt • Cotton • Cartoon tube • Metal Rod • Wooden Barrier • Rulers
1-Ball “Bo Hulaiqa” • The ball is filled with 100% cotton and covered with glue with rubber bands. Results:- 1-the ball doesn’t bounce 2-the ball doesn’t reach the first surface 3-the ball doesn’t reach the second surface Reason: too heavy to bounce off the barrier
2- Ball “Alkuwari” • The ball is filled with 5 rubbers inside and covered with around 30 rubber bands. Results:- -The ball bounced off the barrier -The ball reached the first surface -The ball failed to reach the second surface. Reason : the ball needed more weight to go through the rough surfaces
3- Ball “Aidrous” The ball is filled with glue and wrapped by tape and rubber bands Results: 1-the ball bounced off the barrier 2-the ball reached the first surface 3-the ball reached the second surface Reason : It had the Ideal weight and the bouncy features for the ball to fulfill the conditions.
4- Ball “Alhothi” • The ball is filled with 50% cotton and covered with rubber bands • Results: • 1-the ball bounced off the barrier • 2-the ball reached the first surface • 3-the ball reached the second surface Reason : It had the Ideal weight and the bouncy features for the ball to fulfill the conditions.
Conclusion • The distance that the ball reaches depends on the material used inside and outside the ball. • Increasing the weight of the ball stabilizes the ball through rough surfaces. • Covering the ball with rubber bands makes it bouncier.
