  2. A Pilot School Registrar Once Said…… Going through all of the trials and tribulations of being a pilot school were easily offset by the great features of WebAdvisor and especially web registration. (paraphrased)

  3. Employees Pay advices Leave plan summary Total compensation Faculty Final grade entry Class rosters Reporting of no-shows Advisors List of advisees Degree Audit Students Search for sections Registration Degree audit Address changes Unofficial transcripts Most Popular Uses of WebAdvisor

  4. WebAdvisor Registration • Students can use the “shopping cart” method or Express Registration. • It is recommended that you use registration priorities so as to not overwhelm the server. At CFCC we bring 500 students up twice a day. • Web registration is not particularly friendly for advisors. For that reason, our advisors will continue to have access to Colleague. • We have extended web registration every semester and it now extends through the day before classes begin. • We chose not to allow drop/add using web registration because of the 25% rule.

  5. Are we finished at Cape Fear Community College? Not yet…. • Fall 2008 -WebAdvisor attendance tracking released from NCCCS • Web-based transcript requests • Time entry for employees • Enrollment verifications for students • Continuing Education applications, registration, and payments (Instant Enrollment)

  6. A little extra planning, teamwork, and perseverance can result in better customer service and a more efficient office for years to come. Examples: • Web Student Applications • Pay Advices • Change of Address • Degree Audit

  7. Understanding Degree Audit • WebAdvisor offers a degree audit (program evaluation) functionality for both students and faculty to track progress toward completion and plan course selection for academic programs. • A degree audit may be run to check progress in a current program or a what-if evaluation for another program the student is considering.

  8. Understanding Degree Audit • The degree audit is a dynamic real-time document that changes with any action taken on the student’s record such as registration, withdrawals, repeating courses, grading, etc. • The degree audit is an internal document for advising purposes and is not an official document of a student’s academic record.

  9. Degree Audit Navigation in WebAdvisor • The degree audit is accessed through Faculty, Advisors and Students menus in WebAdvisor. • Online Demonstration • Viewing an advisee’s degree audit • Viewing a What-if degree audit for an advisee • Viewing a student’s degree audit who is not an assigned advisee

  10. WebAdvisor Offers Even Morefor Advisors! • In addition to the degree audit (program evaluation) feature, WebAdvisor allows access to the following information on advisees: • View a Student’s Transcript • View a Student’s Schedule • View a Student’s Test Summary • Express Register • Search and Register • Drop Section • View a Student’s Profile • Address, email, phone, active programs, advisors

  11. EVAL – Active Program Audit Degree Audit in Colleague • PSPR – What-If Audit • Audit Output

  12. Teamwork is the Key! As College Administrators, it is crucial that each of you have a role in bringing all concerned parties together in working towards a common goal. WebAdvisor and Degree Audit require the cooperation of many departments in order to be successful. Be sure to create timetables for planning, setup, and testing for each segment of WebAdvisor and Degree Audit before going live.

  13. Costs versus Benefits “The number one benefit of information technology is that it empowers people to do what they want to do. It lets people be creative. It lets people be productive. It lets people learn things they didn't think they could learn before, and so in a sense it is all about potential.”Steve BalmerCEO - Microsoft
