  6. Individual Task Choose one of the following options: • Write a diary entry about the secret you described in the bell work yesterday. • Imagine that you are Brian and write a diary entry detailing your thoughts and feelings on the day that he saw his mum in the car. Your diary entry must be at least 100 words.

  7. Peer Assessment Swap your writing with the person sitting in front of you. • Write two stars about their diary (things they did well) • Write one wish (something to improve on) Remember to be specific!

  8. 28/4/15Chapter 5 TP: Good readers can organise information using a mind map Bell work: Answer the following questions in full sentences. 1.What was the first sign that something was wrong with the pilot? 2.Why did Brian have a hatchet on his belt? 3.What happened to the pilot?

For this task, everyone can act as a Recorder. You must also choose one person for each of the following jobs: Chairperson, Time Keeper and Reporter.

  10. Feedback • Reporters for groups 1, 2 and 3 must circulate between each other (reporter from group 1 goes to group 2 and so on) to explain their mind maps. • Reporters for groups 4, 5 and 6 should do they same. • It is the job of the other group members to explain to the reporters what their group was looking at.

  11. 29/4/15Learning Centres TP: Collaboration is an important tool Bell work: If you were Brian and stranded in the wilderness, what 5 things would you like to have with you?

  12. Centre Activities Each group has three centre activities to complete. You need to use team work to complete the tasks: • Imagine you are Brian’s Mum. Write a diary entry for the day you find out he is missing. • Write down 10 descriptive words you could use to describe the Canadian Wilderness. Then in one paragraph write a descriptive paragraph using those words. • Read the article about Ed who survived for 6 days without food or water. When completed summarise the article into key points.
