  2. Keyboarding Activity “Storyboard” • Open up the word processing module in All the Right Type (ART) and choose 1 sentence to start your story. • Copy the sentence down into word. After typing the sentence, then keep adding sentences to the story (up to 3 sentences). • You have about 1-2 minutes to finishing typing your sentences. After I give the signal, you will move to the right (to the next computer terminal on your right hand side) and add the next few sentences to that new story. • Then REPEAT….

  3. Choose one sentence to start your story • 1. “It was a bad day, Billy slept through the alarm and was late. Today was supposed to be special. Today Billy was going to…” • 2. “Amanda couldn’t believe it, she had been waiting all year for this day.”

Interesting Facts • There are 20-30 security features built into every single bill that are arranged into 3 levels of security: • General Public Knowledge (detectable with the visible eye) • Advanced Technology is required to detect (like black light or radiation detectors) • Top Secret, For Government Eyes Only (for verification purposes) • So don’t play with counterfeit money

Activity 1: money Familiarization • Use the internet to search for some examples of currency (money) to get some ideas for your own currency to create. • I want you to pick-out one example of a currency (your favorite, either a good or bad one) to show the class. I want you to display that currency example on your screen (full-screen) for everyone to see. • I want you to write one sentence down on a piece of paper about why you chose it.

  14. Activity 2: Currency Development • On your own, use the computer to develop one bill and one coin. You must make: • A Canadian 1000 dollar bill • The new Canadian 5 dollar coin • And then come up with a new name for your money (i.e. a Benjamin, Twoonie, Nickle, Penny, Bit, Rupee, Pound, Drachma) • Use the internet to get ideas and images. Then create the flyer in Microsoft Word

  15. CLOSING TIME If you are finished either try to improve your $$$ (i.e. play with different graphics, features, counterfeit, design, layout) OR develop a new currency (I.E. different bill or coin value)

  16. Exit Slip What kind of things do you collect (i.e. money, cards, stamps, games) and why? Do you think that a day will come that there will be no more paper or coin money (i.e. electronic money or cards only)? When?
