  2. Root Causes • Violence occurs when you think others are not equal to you • Power • Pecking order of women, girls….etc… • The more one cares about high social status, the more likely they are to bully • The more you think “stuff” makes you who you are, the more in trouble you are

  3. WHO IS RAISING YOUR GIRLS?

What Girls Need: • A SAFE place where they can speak their truth • Need a body of women to support her, teach her kindness and COMPASSION • Parents that validate their feelings and encourage them to have feelings • Girls who are resilient, strong capable and confident can say to the bully “I don’t need this…I am out of here!”

  5. Bully Proof Your Girl  • Resiliency is a skill which can be taught • Teach her how to be resilient! • Resiliency means buoyancy – ability to recover from adversity • Resilient girls have emotional awareness, persevere, internal locus of control, optimistic, know the value of support, have a sense of humor, can develop a perspective and most importantly spirituality!!

  6. Bully Proof Your Girl  • Children need to be taught how to make friends wisely • They need to be taught how to read social cues • She should learn NOT to glorify the cool group • Have her look outside the box for a group to belong to • Teach her to be a critical consumer of media

  7. Parents Be Alert  • Materialism is killing the souls of our children • Entitlement comes from indulgence • Learn to be a firm, yet loving parent • Do not be a friend to your child, be a parent  • Teach them respect for differences especially in sizes, dress style, color of skin and socioeconomic status • Learn about the hook up culture…

  8. To end… Our community is losing tenderness Compassion needs to come back Loving kindness Teach the values you want lived. Don’t let Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars teach the values you want in your family Look at your own friendships…are you a bystander to a bullying process?
