PSDI Project: NPP Ocean Color NUPS • PSDI: Transition operational ocean color products, presently generated on Okeanos, from heritage platforms (MODIS) to NPP, • ORS: Quality assessment of NPP generated ocean color NUPS, and • ORS: End user engagement and readiness for NPP sourced ocean color NUPS. August 22, 2011

PSDI Project: NPP Ocean Color NUPS SOCD tasks: • Requirements (and user requests) analysis (Hughes). • Product generation (Keegstra). • Hardware / software readiness (Gu). • Quality assessment (Ramachandran). • Distribution (Vogel and Soracco). • Archive (TBD). • Risk assessment and mitigation (Kim) OSPO tasks: TBD August 22, 2011

  4. PSDI Project: NPP Ocean Color NUPS Schedule (key dates) and deliverablesin three phases: Development phase 1. Apr 2011 – Okeanos sizing. Ground Systems request by OSPO? Required by several product lines. 2. May 2011 – Project officially begins (Mod 7) 3. May 2011 – Hardware/software in place. Ready. 4. Aug 2011 – Requirements analysis begins. 5. Sep 2011 – Experiment distribution for evaluation via Tethys/STAR. Discussions beginning. 6. Oct 2011 – NPP launch. 7. Jan 2012 – - PDR scheduled (NESDIS milestone). - First data likely. - First products for evaluation: nLw, chl a (IDPS), NASA chl a (if s/w available), NOAA chl a (if s/w available), and HAB products. - Frontal and E. hux. as acceptable s/w becomes available. 8. Feb/Mar 2012 – First product quality assessment by CoastWatch. 9. Apr 2012 – User engagement and readiness (ocean color) meeting at NMM. 10. Summer 2012 – Okeanos equipment arrives. NPP OC NUP CDR. 11. Summer 2012 – Planned move from WWB to NCWCP. August 22, 2011

  5. PSDI Project: NPP Ocean Color NUPS Pre-operational phase: 1. Jul 2013 – Begin transition to Okeanos/PTS. 2. Sep 2013 – System Readiness Review (Okeanos) 3. Dec 2013 – Product quality review 4. Jan 2014 – User Readiness Review • Mar 2014 – - Okeanos ready for operations. -OCPOP/SPSRB briefed on operations readiness. Operational phase: 6. Mar 2014 – Begin ocean color operational production (Okeanos) using NPP data. August 22, 2011
