  2. General Information Graduation Requirements a) 130 Credits Athletic Eligibility a) All 9th graders are eligible for Fall and Winter athletic seasons b) 13.75 for the Spring athletic season c) 27.5 for new school year (NJSIAA)

  4. Block Schedule (72 minute blocks)

  5. Course Length Course Length – Semester (18 Weeks=5 credits), Quarter (9 Weeks=2.5 credits), Or Year on alternating days=5 credits

  6. Freshmen Course Requirements • English • Mathematics • World History • World Language • Physical Education/Health • Science • Freshmen Seminar (9 weeks) • 7.5 Additional Elective Credits

  7. Academic Course Levels-Grade 9 • Honors: High academic challenge for competitive 4-year colleges • College Preparatory: Rigorous preparation for 2 year colleges and most 4 year colleges • College and Career Preparatory: Comprehensive instruction in preparation for 2-year college Associate Degree Programs and some 4-year colleges.

English Courses English English I-012 (Career & College Prep) English I-011 (College Prep) English I-013 (Honors) As established by the Board of Education and the State of New Jersey, each student at RVRHS must complete certain requirements in English in order to qualify for graduation. They include: • 1. Successful completion of four English courses. • 2. Passing the New Jersey High School Proficiency Assessment.

Mathematics Math Concepts I-164(Career & College Prep) • Algebra I-190(College Prep) • (Math Lab-162 is assigned to students in Algebra I College Prep that score between a 65-75 on the Orleans Hanna assessment.) • Algebra I-189(Honors) • Geometry-218(Honors) • As established by the Board of Education and the State of New Jersey, each student at RVRHS must complete certain requirements in mathematics in order to qualify for graduation. They include: • 1. Successful completion of three mathematics courses. • 2. Passing the New Jersey High School Proficiency Assessment.

Science • Environmental Science 241 (College & Career Prep) • Environmental Science 243(College Prep) • Environmental Science 241-243 are lab-based courses that explore environmental issues, including the management of natural resources, the production and use of energy, waste management systems, and the interdependence of ecosystems. • Biology 252(College Prep) • Lab based course that emphasizes the application of the scientific method through a comprehensive study of the cycles of matter and energy as itapplies to the study of living organisms. Three years of science are required for graduation, including Biology and two additional semester courses (Environmental Science, Chemistry or Physics).

  19. Instrumental Groups Spring Band-539 Fall Band-548 Wind Ensemble-542 Orchestra-550 Advanced Lessons-581 (Fall & Spring) Marching Band-547 (Option Two Only) Marching band is an after school program.

  20. NJROTC NAVAL SCIENCE I – 293(Non-Weighted) Students learn the values of citizenship, service, personal responsibility, accomplishment, self-esteem, teamwork, and self-discipline. The Unit’s drill team, color guard, academic and physical fitness teams, and athletic groups also compete against other units. Cadets represent the Corp at various local and state official functions, parades, dedications, and other ceremonies. The Naval Sciences are full-year courses that satisfy the Career and Vocational-Technical Education (VOC).
