  4. TRS Background & Scope • TRS is the Transaction Reporting System, a Government-wide financial information transaction portal, being developed by Treasury/FMS in conjunction with FRB St. Louis • Federal revenue collection transactions processed by FMS systems

Business Owners & Sponsor • The FMS business owner for TRS is the Accounting and Data Management Division of Federal Finance • Fred Lehnhoff - Director • Christina Cox – Project Manager • Donald Evans – Information Systems and Security Officer (ISSO) • The FMS Executive Sponsor for TRS is the Assistant Commissioner, Federal Finance • Gary Grippo

Architecture • Consists of a transaction broker, an enterprise data warehouse and several customized data marts • Architecture will be based on standard data warehousing products: • ETL (Extract/Transform/Load) • BI (Business Intelligence) • DBMS (database management system) • Utilize Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) products in all possible cases

Architectural Components • Transaction Broker • Move data in and out of TRS • Transform transactional data to standard canonical form • Provide operational reporting to oversee data movement • Report transactional data to support agency accounting functions • Data Warehouse & Business Intelligence • Move/transform data within the boundaries of TRS • Provide drill-down and analytical reporting • Summarize data to support deposit reporting

TRS Benefits • TRS will provide you with: • A single touch point for the exchange of all financial transaction information across all collection systems, • A single, consolidated, daily report of all revenue activity across all collection systems, • Detailed and summary transaction detail, • A higher level of service than previously possible.

  12. TRS Benefits • Continued: • Data transfers or downloads in standard formats to enable you to further manipulate the information on in-house systems, and • Inquiries and report generation, based on user provided selection criteria and/or standardized filters, throughout the business day

TRS Benefits • TRS will provide FMS with: • Summary and detailed transaction reporting across all collection systems. • The ability to better manage information for reducing annual collection costs. • Better transaction information for cash forecasting leading to potential reduction in required cash reserves. • A seamless interface with the Government Wide Accounting (GWA) system.

  14. Estimated Timeline • 2005 - Release 1.0 & 2.0 • 2006-07 – Release 3.0 • 2Q 07 - Integration of detailed transaction data • 2Q 07 - Initial FMS online analytical reporting • 4Q 07 - Begin replacement of current electronic data feeds • 4Q 07 - Begin online agency reporting
