  4. Registration Process 1. Counselors will present courses available for the next school year. 2. Students can meet with teachers to discuss the recommended courses for the next school year. 3. Students should review the registration form and discuss course selections with their families.  4. Counselors will then meet with students to discuss and review their course selections and plans. 5. A proposed schedule of courses will be distributed in the Spring semester to students in English class. This final step in the process allows students and parents the opportunity to review, correct, and/or change selections. Last day to request changes is May 30th. 6. It is expected that students develop a sound educational plan and an appropriate schedule prior to the end of the current school year 7. The only course changes that will be made in the Fall will be those necessitiated by schedule conflicts or data entry errors.

  7. 8th Grade English and Math Placement Testing First Opportunity Wednesday, January 23, 2019 Last Name A-L at 1:45 pm Last Name M-Z at 3:00pm GHS Library Second Opportunity Wednesday, January 30, 2019 @ 1:45pm GHS Library Final Opportunity Saturday, February 9th at 7:45 am, GHS Library **This opportunity is only for students who have not yet retaken the SRI or Math Assessment**

Math 180 assessment for Math class Placement 9th Grade Assessments  • SRI assessment for English class Placement • What happens if a student scores less than 850 on their placement tests?  • Enrolled in Math 180 (double period)  •   or • Summer intervention program (if applicable) • What happens if a student scores less than 850 on their placement tests?  • Enrolled in Read 180 (double period)    or • Summer intervention program (if applicable)

  9. Interested in Pre-AP/Honors/Advanced Placement (AP) courses? • All students taking a Pre-AP/Honors/AP class must sign the Pre-AP/Honors/AP contract and submit to the counselor with their registration form. • Students must make informed decisions about courses requiring summer assignments because these courses will not be dropped at the beginning of the school year due to incomplete work. • Mandatory Meeting on April 10th at 5pm in the Student Union

  10. Registration Form-9th Grade • Step 1: Indicate your core course selections. • Note to Students: It’s important that you keep your post-secondary goal in mind. Your counselors use this information to make decisions about your course requests and to better guide you. • Step 2: Indicate your top 5 elective options. Number them 1-5. Choose carefully!

  11. 9th Grade English • Note to Students: • There is summer work required for English 1 PreAP and a signed contract is required English 1 or English 1 PRE AP * Read 180+ Intervention ELD or LTELD *Based on ELPAC and years in program

  12. 9th Grade Math • Note to Students: • There is summer work required for Math 1 Honors and a signed contract is required. • Math 1 or Math 1 Honors* • Math 1+Math 180*(intervention) • *Based on Math Placement • Math 1 SDAIE (based on language fluency)

  13. 9th Grade Science • Physical Science: • Earth Science  • AG Earth Science (a-g elective) • Life Science: • Must be enrolled in English Pre-AP or 850 SRI or above  • Pre-AP Biology (a-g) • Biology (a-g) • AG Biology (a-g)

Number 1-5 in order of preference Note to students: The classes that you choose are only a proposed list of classes, so these classes are not guaranteed for the next school. Schedules may be subject to change depending on the availability of a courses and test scores and teacher recommendation.
