(Reading and comprehension) *Readingcomprehensiontasksareimportantparts of thesecondaryschoolentranceexamtestsaswellasthatofthetwo-levelschool-leavingexaminationinsecondaryeducation Maturaexam Entranceexam

PISA (Programmefor International StudentAssessments) results • The results of theassessmentsrevealthat4 gradersperformwellinreadingcomprehension, however, studentsattheage of 15 performbelowtheaverageconcerningtheprocess , theapplication of theinformation and itsadoptationinsituationsdifferentfromthelearnedones.

Teachersareprovidedonlyfewopportunitiesfordevelopingreadingcomprehensionbythe curriculum • The methods and tasksappliedfordevelopingreadingcomprehensioninthefirst (basic) periodarepushedintothebackground.
