  3. Introduction • Capgemini has lots of potential people, who are sometimes on bench. • The working hours of the employees between clients can be effectively utilized. • Capgemini has come up with the idea “Spare Time Product development”. • This aims at utilizing the potential of employees idling on bench to develop products as well as in educating them about new technologies.

  4. Jigsaw puzzle analogy • The product under development using this “Spare Time Product • Development” can be considered as Jigsaw puzzle. • The pieces of Jigsaw are the task to be done to complete the puzzle.

  5. Contd.. • The player attempting to solve the puzzle, works some part of the puzzle and leaves. Another player may enter in to the puzzle. Now the situation becomes analogous to role-playing game.

  6. Core and Cloud Team Model Solution Manager Cloud Team Core Team

  7. Objectives The purpose is to create an infrastructure which provides the following • To facilitate creation of tasks for the product underdevelopment. • To manage the information transfer.

  8. Contd… Project 1 Technicalinfrastructure Project 2 Project 3 Project 4 Information Transfer Task creation

  9. Contd… • Creation of tasks for the product underdevelopment. To facilitate the development of product under the constraint that people are not fixed, the product is broken into tasks(which can be carried out independently). • To manage the information transfer. The information here it means status of the project.

  10. Requirements and Assumptions Requirements • All the tasks defined can be completed within the spare time of the employee. Assumptions • A bench is not fixed. • The amount of time an employee can invest in the product development is fixed.

  11. Existing Approaches In Capgemini, currently few projects are working on core and cloud team model. Capgemini’s Agile platform. • It is Capgemini’s agile software development platform. • People on bench get a chance to learn and upgrade tools used in developing products. • It uses dashboard to track the project progress online. Shortcomings • Lots of verbal communication.

  12. Work division • All the work related to task creation by Hema Pujar. • All the work related to information transfer by Smitha Halyal.
